Disgruntled car owner destroys $284,000 Cdn Lamborghini with sledgehammers
STRINGER SHANGHAI/REUTERS
Onlookers take pictures and videos as workers use sledgehammers to smash a Lamborghini Gallardo car outside a construction material market in Qingdao, Shandong province March 15, 2011. The second-hand vehicle, owned by the operator of the construction material market, suffered engine problems one month after it was bought.

If you’re a supercar-lover, avert your eyes.
A disgruntled Chinese millionaire who clearly had enough of his expensive, but problematic, Lamborghini Gallardo took out his frustration by hiring a crew to destroy the posh car in front of stunned spectators.
The cruel public execution took place Tuesday to mark World Consumer Rights Day.

The driver, who bought the second-hand car in Qingdao for 1,900,000 yuan ($284,124 Cdn), became enraged after the engine failed to start last November.
Further troubles ensued after the Qingdao Lamborghini dealership damaged the bumper and chassis while towing the lame car to the garage.
To top it all off, the garage failed to fix the malfunctioning engine and the dealership refused to take responsibility for any damages.
The driver reportedly tried reaching out to Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann. But after receiving no response to his appeals for help he decided to take matters into his own hands by hiring a demolition crew to dish out some public revenge on the Italian beauty.
The man said he hoped the car’s ugly death by sledgehammer would send a message to carmakers that better after-sales service in China, especially for luxury cars, is desperately needed.

If i have that much disposable income, and these stupid problems i would have do the same to show lambo, italy and many others by posting video all over net, i think did funtastic job, this not applicable if you are in money tight situation, he is millionaire who cares.

I agree that is great! I would do the same or worse if I could afford to. I would rather have done it in Italy, in front of the Ferrari dealership, and then walked in and bought one. Lambo wouldn't be too hAppy. I'd then pay millions to have every donkey on the planet get his sides shaved with a lambo emblem.

I can't say I agree with the owner but I guess if I was a multi millionaire I wouldn't care as much. But one thing for certain is that Lamborghini will feel this public embarrassment for some time. The other thing is I would love to get the full story. Stuff like this is often one sided. Wonder if I could have the motor even for display int he garage....how cool would that be.

Like Mike said above, I'd suspect the negative plublicity of this stunt his hard to rival. The owner felt it was a matter of principal, and since he can affort to toss away 300K, he was going to make a statement and embarrass Lambo, and wow did it work!
IMO, there is no worse damage this guy could have done than this within the confines of the law.
Many in Canada now have seen this Lambo's owner plight, and has likely spread to many if not most car enthusiast car forums, and beyond. I'll bet you the Lambo PR department is working overtime to manage the damage this stunt has caused them.

On the action, I too think it would have been cooler and less barbaric to use a helicopter and drop it from 5,000 feet than let monkeys with sledghammers have at it from 2 feet.
Then again, I remember our cub troop made a LOT of money one afternoon in the late '70s selling baseball bat, 2x4 and sledgehammer swings at a new Toyota donated for this specific purpose. They might have made more money by selling it but this was in Windsor, Canada's domestic "Motor city" and the Japanese competition was just beginning.

I've known a few unfortunate individuals to purchase a Lambo. The cliche's "I feel your pain" and "sorry for your loss", run rampant in that community.
It's amazing that Audi and Lambo are under the same umbrella, but Audi has some how managed to turn around their mechanical problems, yet Lambo continues to say "well, what do you expect, it's exotic" and shrug problems off.

Not too reliable in the ALMS race in Sebring on Saturday, only 10 laps completed before retiring from the race. Even the FUGLY Panoz lasted 9 laps longer
