Bloomington Gold 2011 in Words and Pictures
Alright gang, we are back! Another great show this year with some special significance for one of our own (more on that shortly in a separate thread).
Here's the trip synopsis with pictures.
We left right on time for once and rolled from the Petro Canada to hookup with Paul (Ontcanuck) and the CWO gang just the other side of London.
No issues at the border either, probably the shortest crossing time I've had at Sarnia yet.
Up next the first stop!

The First Stop
We started to plan out our lunch stop and someone comes up with the bright idea to search the Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives site for ideas. After a bit of searching we found..
Joe's Gizzard City
Here's Mike (Sporkachon) trying to decide if he should go in!
The signs sort of say it all but hey if it's good enough for Guy it's good enough for us.
Once we get inside we find out 24 oz beers are $3 and regular size beers are $2 so it can't be all bad.
The place is known for the Triple D which is basically a cheeseburger with everything... DEEP FRIED!
Daryl decides to get his with the onion rings.
A couple of brave souls got the other specialty which are the deep-fried gizzards. Everyone passes on the deep-fried twinkies or deep-fried cookie dough (seeing a theme to this place yet?) for dessert and were back to the cars.

Corvette Central is Next
We did the obligatory stop at Corvette Central.
This time we got the full royal treatment and they took us on a tour of the place.
We eventually pulled Daryl away from the OEM parts bins and we were off once again.

The Show - Part 1
The show itself was excellent as always. The highlight of the auction this year was the black collection. From 1954 to 1962 they had one car in black in each year and for 1963-1969 they had 2 of each in black, 1 vert and 1 hardtop.

You can always count on seeing some unique cars there. Here's some pics of a wild custom job that started out life as a '62 but not much left of the original car/

The Show - Part 3
The new car lot had the usual assortment of vehicles to tempt the pocketbook.
I absolutely love this new GS Vert. Supersonic Blue with matching top.
They had a Z06 Carbon as well.
Here's the new Carlisle Blue. A lot better in person than I initially thought.
Last but not least, here's the new Z06 with the Z07 package????
Check out the new rubber! No wonder they shaved all that time off the Ring run for the ZR1.

The Great hall had a few gems this year including this barn find.
A 78 pace car with only 8 miles!
An extremely rare ZR2
A rare old racer!

The Show Comes to an End
What better way to finish off the show than finally beating a buddy at his own game.
Here I am holding up my parts bounty while Daryl can only hold up a catalog because yes I finally finished a show off with more parts than he did. Must have been that certification thing taking up his time!
