Garage Doors, Openers etc....
I just bought a new house. Yay me! [I'm broke now] - Yay me!
About a garage door.... My garage is older - but has lots of room up to the peak of the roof - behind the garage door.
Was interested in having the garage door go up - and angle back, instead of just coming up & doing a 90 degree. I someday hope to have a 4 post lift - to stack my second 'Vette. Question:
Is installing the garage door opening in that configuration difficult?
Anyone know a garage door manufacturer/installer in the Eastern Ontario region? I could only find one in the phone book, and one in Massena who wouldn't come across the border for work. Was hoping to shop around at least a little bit.
Thanks for looking.
Happy Saturday!

yup, my buddy doesn them, he's in Toronto. It's called a high lift modification. if you have the room on the side, you can do a side mount motor or mod your existing and track as I did. Regardless, shaft and spring assembly get moved up much higher Pm me if you want his info, he's my worker and long time friend that does it on the side.

Eastern Overhead Doors in Brockville. Thats who installed 4 garage doors for me-- the last 3 were each 10 ft high by 9 feet wide with high lift kit and jack shaft openers. I have a 2 post lift in my garage. PM me if you want more details.

I don't mean to highjack this thread but if I could ask a question.
Some garages are only 18' wide and some of these lifts are 11" wide, isn't that a tight fit for let's say your significant other to squeeze in opposite the hoist and park there DD?

My garage interior is 33 ft 8 in wide with three 9 ft doors. It was the widest door width I could possibly go. The piers for my lift sit right in the 2 spaces in between the 3 doors. I would not go any more narrow than that.
Although I couldn't because of physical constraints, I would have liked to build the garage an additional 5 ft wider. I think that would have been a perfect size in order to walk around the lift with cars parked in the adjacent bays. It's good as it is, but a little tight.
