Default Ontario Licence Plate Price Increase‏

Licence Plate Sticker Increase as of Sept 1, 2012!

This is for everyone whose birth date is after Sept 1st, 2012.

As of Sept 1st, 2012 the price of a Licence Plate Sticker goes from $74 to $82 ($8.00 increase).

As of Jan 2013 it will go to $90 ($16.00 increase) and in 2014 it will be $98 ($24.00 increase).

Did you know that you can purchase your Licence Plate Sticker up to 6 months in advance?

So if your birth date is after Sept 1st, 2012, you should buy your sticker before Sept 1st even if your birthday is in December.

You also have the option to purchase a 2 year Licence Plate Sticker at $74.00 per year.

A friend was just at the MTO and an employee there gave him this info to pass along.

The above information has been verified and is true.

If there is a way to keep your $$$ in your pocket, why not take advantage of the opportunity.

Well, I for one, am happy to pay the extra money as the government needs these funds to pay for increased policing and enforcement of rules of the road, highway maintenance, highway signage in both official laguages, general funds for retiring government employees and elected officials' pensions, drive clean programs and policing of them, etc. etc. imagine where we'd be if our streets and highways were allowed to deteriorate from their pristine condition and all the other benefits we'll receive from the increase in the cost of license stickers!

You can be assured that every cent of this very necessary supplement will be spent wisely and prudently, this increase in revenue will benefit not only motorists, but all members of our community...

Ontario should learn from the other 6 provinces and 3 territories, just give us the rear plate, makes more revenue, that'll be

My BD falls on Sept 15, but I get my renewal notices in July.I go to their website & order my tags, usually the same week.I just did my Cruze & received my tag in less than a week.Only mistake was,I should have done the 2 year tags.Totally forgot about the price increase.

Just renewed both cars in June....DD was $74, Vette was $18. I drive whenever my schedule and the weather allows. Haven't been stopped in years, but if they questioned my historic plates, I'm either coming from or going to my mechanic.....that's my story and I'm sticking to it. F the Gov't.

Thanks for the tip Livio! One should keep in mind that they won't be able to buy the two year sticker if their vehicle is due for an emissions test in 2013, they will only get the option for one year.

My youngest boy just bought one btw..... we're going to drop his built 383 small block in it this weekend

so then in addition to his 'burban, he'll be buying plates for 2 vehicles per year at the new increased price.... he's also happy and willing to pay the extra cost, hoping that some of it will trickle down into the social programs that our government provides to new Canadian immigrants, to help give them and their relatives a good foothold in Canada, and a good start at being good solid long term contributors to our economy and our culture....

I do hope you mean that sincerely. As an immigrant, even though I did not take advantaged of any such programs, I find that more than offensive. Without a steady stream of immigration Canada would neither exist nor be able to sustain itself. But then again, I know I am misreading your intent, no?

How could you possibly mis-read it? Of course I'm sincere, we're ALL from immigrants.....
