Default Cost of 91 in PA

Just spent a month in Pennsylvania, and the approx cost of 91 octane is 8 cents a litre more than 87. I wonder what the excuse for the much higher difference is in Canada

I wonder why gas is 85 cents/litre in Virginia when it is $1.40 here...

Most of the reason why it's cheaper in the US is because we are taxed to fricken death here! They have way less tax on their gasoline than we do.

If you look at the pricing of a litre of gas here vs. the US, you will find that the actual gasoline component is cheaper in Canada. The taxes in Canada far outweigh what Americans are charged.

few reasons
Currency Exchange USD $0.9178 vs. $1.00 CAD
all Prices are traded USD on world markets....
Crude Oil $95.65 USD vs. $104.22 CAD
Gasoline futures $2.69/gal. USD vs. 2.93/gal. CAD
then i think there is 10% Ethanol in 87 & 89 Octane gasoline so
Ethanol $2.17/gal. USD vs. 2.36/gal. CAD

then !!!!!TAX TAX TAX !!!!
Ontario Gasoline Price Average $1.305 CAD per litre
Alberta Gasoline Price Average $1.19 CAD per litre

its very possible Gasoline prices might drop in the future due to the Oil Boom happening in USA and the dropping demand , but as the price of Oil drops so does our Canadian Dollar : (

Default Wouldn't it be nice if our gas was .95/l instead of 1.33/l?

It would be if we were filling up in PA!

With all conversions, right now gas is 28% cheaper in Carlisle than Toronto.

Current gas prices in PA (and Carlisle) are around $3.30 US/Gal,
which is .87 US/l or with exchange $.95 Cdn/l
That's .38 Cdn cheaper per liter than our current price of about 1.33/l.

Also FWIW - Gas prices in most of Canada are expected to DROP 2c/l Saturday Aug 16. Hopefully they will continue to drop to more consistent market prices of low 1.20's. This summer's gas prices are the only thing I'm thankful for about not having my boat finished and in the water yet.

Probably a couple of trucks passed through on the same pup for the same guy. I've done that a couple of times myself with my dad and brother.

quite possible, I took a picture cause I'm used to seeing $10 or $20 for the previous purchase when I fill up

Filling my boat would be 189l (50gal)
Add the truck and I'd be well over $300.
If my hobbies didn't run on gasoline and wine, I'd be rich!
It's a gas!

Sorry, I may not have been clear. My issue was with the larger differance we pay between regular and premium. Don't know if taxes can be blamed for that

....because we as Canadians just take it up the a$$............years back, 87 to 89 to 91 was approx. 2 cent spread, now 87 to 91/94 is up to 15 cents more. Why? , because they can and know we'll do nothing about it.........some countries would protest and burn buildings but not us.

.. and they always have such great reasons for the price differential: it's more refined, it's less refined, not as much is sold, Chuck Norris didn't say no ...

It's just another way that the gas stations screw us, they keep creeping up the price of premium, as if their ridiculous price of 87 isn't bad enough! That's why I like buying premium at Costco, not only is their price for 87 so much better than everyone else (usually 6 or 7 cents less) but the gap between 87 and 91 is only 11 cents. So that means in a lot of cases if I fill up with premium at Costco I'm saving about 14 cents per liter!
