1620 is a nice number and yes, pretty good for a 1500 (1/2ton).

Hey where did you get the Blue Spark tuning? Also, I read in the manual that they will record you having it and it cannot be erased is this true? I don't want to kill my warranty.

I checked the payload it's 1,620lbs, seems pretty good for a 1500 series truck

You can get here
http://www.rollinsmokediesel.com/pd-...rol-tuning.cfm

or directly from Bluespark in the UK... this is an inline module that does affect the vehicle tuning and tricks the ECU into thinking it's still within stock parameters making it almost impossible to detect once removed...

I drove from Toronto to Montreal last weekend... I filled up in Cobourg and averaged 35MPG/6.6 l/100km all the way there... I got there on roughly 1/3 of a tank of fuel... this truck is nuts when it comes to fuel economy!!

^ that's crazy considering my Honda Prelude 200hp 162tq curb weight of 3000lbs and requires 91 Octane only gets 10-11L city and 7-8 L highway

does your Ram 1500 ECO have the air ride adjust ride height ?? , also u have the 4WD version right ?

6.6L/100 in any car is pretty decent. In a pickup, that's bordering amazing.

I have a 2013 TDI Passat that I just drove from North Bay to Cochrane to Kapuskasing and back, 1017km.
According to the cars computer I was getting 5.2L per 100km. Now that's warm weather, mostly flat driving with the trans in "manual" mode (less shifting).
In the winter that will drop to 6.5 -7 L per 100km.

My 2013 Ram with the Cummins diesel, if I baby it on a long trip will run 12-13L per 100km. But most of the time I have a trailer of some description on it so I don't even bother with fuel mileage then.

Somebody commented on the interiors of the Ram trucks. I came from a 2010 F150 Lariat and the Ram is just as nice IMO. Its not Ferrari nice, but WAY better than the GM variants I drove before I bought the Ram. Everything is plastic or real fake chrome nowdays. Try and buy a truck that doesn't have a real fake chrome grill, mirror caps, door handles, bumper covers, wheel well mouldings and side steps. Not much out there. (but thats another thread for another day)

If you go to a Commercial Truck Center, or ask if your dealer sells from the commercial fleet, you can order plain jane no frills pickups, either from Ford, GM or Dodge. Engines and drive trains are the same, but accessories might be lacking compared to the regular sales.

Cloth interiror, no power anything, basic radio, etc. You can't get these though the regular dealers.

Besides, if you're buying a pickup truck, they are classified as commercial anyways, hence those black plates.

Just bought a F150 Ecoboost after looking at the ecodiesel I also didn't want to many frills but some we're nice, the ram pkgs didn't off too much compared to what I got in the ford plus the employee pricing and Cosco bonus helped out. Got a xlt xtr pkg. went to fort Erie and averaged 10 litres per 100 k not as good as the diesel but comparable. As for the black plates it doesn't mean commercial it means open carrier (box).

Not according to a few insurance companies. I wanted to get black plates for my car and my truck and the insurance companies asked if I wanted to register my vehicles as commercial. I said no thanks.

Besides, probably splitting hairs here, but aren't most commercial trucks open carrier anyways? Guess it depends on whom you're talking too.

pickups
vans
trailers
etc.

The EcoDiesel get's roughly 50% better fuel economy than the EcoBoost in real world driving... When it comes to towing it's closer to 75% more fuel efficient... not to mention diesel is less expensive than 87 octane in Ontario... what octane fuel does the EcoBoost run on? Depending on the amount of driving you do the fuel savings can really add up... I drive about 1k km per week and am saving about $500 a month on fuel compared to my 2013 Hemi Ram...

Ecoboost runs on regular grade fuel ..

Any engine is better than the Ecoboost with its list of problems ..

Thanks for the reviews guys. I have been following these trucks since their announcement.

I won't be buying another truck for about 2 years, which will give some time to see how reliable these new diesels are. So far the real world fuel mileage and towing capabilities are my biggest concern and this Ram seems to deliver.

Let us know if you have any issues or if you don't. I really like the Ram interiors better than the new GMs or Fords.
