Are they the stock bulbs, or did you put LEDs?
Also, maybe check if there is a separate fuse for the map lights?

only shuts off when the battery saver, or whatever the system is called kicks in

How long have you had the car? Not trying to be smart, you don't happen to have the spare keys in the car by chance?

I have experienced this before, just trying to recall the solution... Are you leaving the car in neutral? Reverse?

It could be the switch for the door, as well... Not registering that it is closed properly.

Did the same thing 3 times recently.I don't remember hitting the button cause as soon as I park it , I put the e brake on & the memory function pushes the seat full aft.I have zero recollection of hitting the dimmer button, but then again, at my age .............lol!
P.S. I wasn't embarrassed.

Wilf you just need to say 2 words, "yes Dear" and just walk away, you have plenty of time for the list now that you are retired, i've been retired 4 years and i'm getting good at forgetting... lol

"Yes dear" in ANY tone of voice is negative goodness here! lol! Also, NEVER use "I told you so".At least the garage is heated...........
