A 32-year-old man from Barrie remains in critical condition after a motorcycle and an SUV crashed in the Essa Township on Wednesday afternoon.
It happened around 4:30 p.m. on the 5th sideroad between County Rd. 56 and the 6th line in Essa Township.
The driver of the motorcycle was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
There were four people in the SUV, two were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
"They found a motorcycle was westbound on the 5th Sideroad, the motor vehicle was eastbound and the motor vehicle turned into a private driveway when the collision occurred," says OPP Constable Tracey Bednarczyk.
Police say the driver of the SUV, an 84-year-old man from Alliston, will not be facing charges.

Wow. As a rider, people turning in front of you is always in your mind.
Usually they say they didn't see you.
That was a big hit. Get well Alex.

Makes you question an 84 year old's ability to be safe on our roads.
As well what really sucks is the law in this province and together how insurance companies get away with not paying what's fair to injured victims of car accidents. No fault...my a__.

Word is that this will go to court. They haven't even had the decency to check on poor Alex to see how he is

Very good friends of mine were involved in a serious motorcycle accident in Texas. They had just started their first year of retirement.
Dave & I had ridden over 20 States & many Provinces together.
A 79 year old women, heading towards them, turned left in front of them while texting,
Dave's buddy (on the first bike) was killed instantly. Dave died 3 days later. Charlotte was on the back and broke every rib and most bones on her left side. She faces years of therapy & Rehab.
In this case the 79 year old lady, was charged with vehicular homicide.
No Idea why the 84 year old driver was not charged in Alex's case.
For all of our riders in the CFCE, ride safe.

Just wanted to let you know that it's not the hospital that's cancelling the MRI. Alex's condition is still critical and the doctors would like him to be more stable before moving him around.
Which is kind of a worry since they need to do the MRI to hopefully see what's going on, but at the same time, don't want to risk any more damage by moving him too much.
The doctors and nurses are doing a very difficult job tending to Alex, so I just wanted everyone to know it's not them. They are just looking out for Alex.
Hope that makes sense.

Probably because Alex is a young kid on a street bike. So it must be his fault.

From an update I posted to Alex's race car team's FB page. They are called Velocity Motorsports Club.

Just a quick update, I am one of Alex's "Corvette" pals and have know him for over 10 years. We have a thread going here:
https://www.corvetteforum.com/.../35...ex-75-stingray...
Anyway, just a small update as I have been in semi routine contact with his Dad Heino:
Alex is by no means out of the woods, and it has been almost 1 month since this terrible accident. There have been many ups and downs, and if not for the strength, will and fight in Alex, he would not even be where he is at today.
The past few days have shown a glimmer of slight improvement. He is still not stable enough for some of the procedures needed, but we all remain hopeful this trend continues.
Please, keep him in your daily thoughts. Both Birgit and Heino remain by his side every single day, day in and day out. Its exhausting, both physically and mentally.
What can you do to help? Post positive thoughts for him and his folks. You can also help by donating to the fundraiser Tatiana, Alex's long time family friend has initiated.
Thanks, please message me if you'd like to talk

Yesterday was a full month ago Alex had the bike accident. It's been hard getting updates out. I don't want to be a burden to his folks constantly asking them, plus, and to be honest, there hasn't been a lot to update on.
He is doing his best considering, some very slight stabilization in his overall condition, and they did a procedure on his leg yesterday with regards to getting a more permanent fix in place. This is but one of many issues.
I'll be down there tomorrow around 11 am if anyone one to drop by and see his folks with me. I hope to have some pictures from the cruise that can be shown to him.

Alex is in the best hospital there is for severe injury such as he has. I've had friends treated there who spoke highly of the care given them.
Patients with needs like Alex are what they are known for.
Mike and Stan, I'll, as most here, watch for your updates. Don't want to overwhelm Alex's parents at with too many people there. You are great representatives of our community and will pass on our thoughts of encouragement to them.
Wishing Alex all the best in his recovery.

I have very, very sad news. Alex passed away last night. Around 7 pm. His parents, a life long child hood buddy and other close family friends were by his side.
It was 5 weeks to the day since the accident. Alex fought very hard. Every single day was a battle, and he had made some progress, but in the end his injuries were just too severe.
I can only imagine the grief of a parent losing a child. Alex was only 32
My most deepest sympathies to his folks Heino and Birgit, and the entire Stoefer family.

Wow I just read this news. My heart just sank.
My sincerest condolences to Alex's Family & Friends.
I'm glad I was able to participate in last Sundays Run. Hopefully we were able to give Alex a bit of hope and encouragement and love in his last days.
R.I.P Alex.
