Yeee-freegin' HAH!
I am SO STOKED! Grabbed the mail tonight to find a Congratulations! letter from Lance and Joe that my 1965 will be one of the 20 cars selected for this year’s 50th Anniversary Collection display. Was hoping for this!
Gonna get a big "We're 50" placard on the windshield since we'll both hit five-oh on the same day a week after Carlisle. Great place/way to start the party!

Biggest event of this summer and we still don't have a room booked. Too many options, and contingencies. My '65 will be parked in the 50th display Thursday through Sunday, possibly with some time out for bad behaviour... so we'll see. I'm going to party right through the weekend - those plans are (at present) our only certainties.
Speaking of parties, many folks like to go back to their hotels Friday and Saturday nights, then leave early Sunday and that's fine. About every hotel in a 100 mile radius of the fairgrounds will have lots of other Corvette folk hanging out in the parking lots. And that's cool since Corvettes at Carlisle is a Mardi Gras for folks with Corvettes.
There's plenty to see in town and near the fairgrounds too.

our room is booked a year in advance, staying at Best Western right next to Hoss's on the Harrisburg Pike. Hey Paul congrats on getting chosen for the '65 display, that's quite an honour

I just spoke with the Park Inn manager and there are still some rooms available if anyone needs one.

I've been stoked about it ever since received the invitational approval letter arrived back in February. I'm trying to be patient though. Corvettes at Carlisle weekend marks the winding down of an always too-short summer, so don't need it to arrive any sooner!

Was at spring Carlisle, and have been to the US a couple of times recently...LOTS of radar in NY state....sometimes one car a short distance after another...not saying it will be that way end of August but just a heads up for everybody in case.

Just thought of a new word for that situation: FUZZ-kill.
Similar to a buzzkill spoiling a perfect drive, but involving the fuzz.
I've seen some very aggressive enforcement by troopers. One road trip we were eastbound on I-80 in Colorado when my buddy took a turn at driving and this westbound trooper pulls a high speed brake and drifted his cruiser through a wide muddy grass median to come after him for just 9 mph over the limit. Really??? Couldn't believe it. Perfectly clear day, early morning, traffic so light it was non-existent, and we were in a new car designed to safely sustain speeds over twice the limit on the Autobahn.
Moral to the story is remember the trooper motto:
8 is great, but 9 you're mine.
