Hellcat is very tempting - Considering I have 2 kids

or buy a c6z for $40,000. throw some $ into it to get it bulletproof (heads, intake, cam, headers, tires, tune...) and buy a nice DD for the family with leftover $.
I don't like these hellcats. if you MUST have a sedan, CTS-V, port the blower, smaller pulley, tune, etc.

Still unmoved by its overall look.

It has four seats which is a plus and would look dynamite in black with tinted windows but...at least to me... isn't even the same class as what people see in the Vette. It doesnt have that same feel of precision and unduly when you sit in it ....again IMO.
Would I choose it over the Z06....never...would I consider it over the Stingray....pricing might be the lord on that one.

5k in five years after one has been on it's fifth transmission,17th piston and the Fiat electrical issues have rendered it undriveable and not worth repairing,by the end of this year you will see guys on LS1Tech already fixing them by swapping CTS-V drivetrains into blown up Hellcats...

Why is everyone hating on Dodge?
Comparing a 2 seater sports car to a 5 seater sedan. He's looking for a dd to carry his kids. Can't do that in a vette. Right now, the only car in GM's stable that can remotely compare to the Hellcats, are the CTS-V's, and they can't touch the Hellcat's power unmodded.
Hmm, other than exotics like Ferrari, what new car doesn't depreciate in the first 20-30 years of it's life. In 30-40 years, they might be collectible. Besides, no one should be buying cars hoping they become collectibles. That's just
Not much of a history on the Hellcat's yet other than a few idiots wrapping them around trees. Not the fault of Dodge. BTW, HOW many cars did GM recall in 2014? 15-20 million? We'll see how the Hellcat's fare once they get out there.

I think the Charger is a decent 4 door sedan, all things considered. Fiat did an awesome job on the interiors and suspension with the Hellcat being over the top LOL! 700 hp in a street car... a few years ago you'd never see even in an NHRA Super Stock!
I wish they'd bring the Chevy SS to Canada... when it was a Pontiac G8, it was a great car!

hey Zeeman, take a look where Cadillac is and compare it to where dodge is on this list. if I were OP, buy C6Z and CTS-V2. still come out less $ than buying a hellcat.

Hmm comparing 2 used cars, with a lot less power to a brand new hellcat. yeah right.
And if you can get a c6z AND a ctsv, under 2 years old, for less than $80k, grab them up while you can. Someone could make some serious coin up here.

I don't hate it at all,if I had a huge pile of money to burn I would probably grab one just for the sheer tire burning joy of it all, just saying I don't see them being worth anything in a few years, and you all know there is no way the powertrain will survive for any length of time at that level of HP and torque, they have issues at half that power level.Once the warranty is up,you're going to be trading that sucker down the road...

who said anything about the years? C6Z is 06-13, for $40k you can find a 06-07 with around 25,000-40,000km. and cts-v2 is 09+. you can surely find an 09 with 40k for $35k

Seems there's people here that don't like the fact this thing will likely spank anything less than a ZR1.
I for one would consider one of these. Nothing like spanking most Corvettes with a 4 door family sadan.

Well put
I hear you if it isnt G.M they automatically hate it.Meanwhile its 4450 pounds and it runs 10s on drag radials and carries 5 people in total comfort.I wasnt bulit to compete with a vette which is a two seater.I see lots of insecure people around here.No one decides between a charger and a vette they are two different purpose cars.

Guys I love Vettes and prefer GM to Chrysler in general like most of us, but I respect what Dodge has done. The big 3 have all stepped it up and he needs a car to fit his whole family.
And we are talking new cars, not used and or modded cars. You will not find any "high end" family cars with that much power for half that price. (New cars have warrantys by the way.) And if you are going to start comparing modified cars that are cheaper, well you can modify a Honda to go faster than a Vette if you are smart, but that's apples to oranges. And who buys a car worrying about the longterm value going up or down? We could be dead in a year, live your life.
I think I prefer the Challenger Hellcat's looks over the Charger's, but that's just my own tastes. Mo, I think it's a very valid option for you, don't worry about the naysayers!
I think this winter has taken a toll on us all, we are becoming jaded and crotchety (and bald!)
Thank God Go Time starts in ... 35 more days!!!!!

The Charger Hellcat is an amazing option. 707hp. Stock. With full warrantee!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go race it and have fun. Whoever buys a car to retain value is crazy. Im sure the kids will be grinning ear to ear when you launch the car... safely of course
