Watkins Glen - June
Hello All,
If anyone is interested in going to the Tudor Sports Cars race (formerly known as ALMS) in Watkins Glen this June, shoot me a PM.
The race is on Sunday June 28 - we would head down Friday, June 26 and come back on Monday June 29. I can give you more details when we connect.
WG is a 4-to-5 hour drive from Toronto depending on how fast you drive and how many stops you make

Some info:
The IMSA Tudor Sports Cars series is the one in which the Corvette Race Team competes in. It was formerly known as ALMS - same cars that run at Lemans.
The Watkins Glen race happens the last weekend in June.
A group are heading down Friday, June 26th and returning Monday June 29th - so we stay 3 nights. The race is on Sunday and ends approx. 6:30-7:00 that evening, so by the time we get out of the track it's a little late to make a 4 to 5 hour drive home. We like staying one more night and having an easy drive home on Monday.
You can go to www.theglen.com for more details about the race.
GM has a "Corvette Corral" at the track where only Corvettes can park and they have a large tent with events taking place all weekend - things like driver signings, technical presentations, Ron Fellows, prize draws, etc...
They even have TV's set up so you can watch the race on TV and catch a break from being out in the sun. They also provide free beverages (water and pop) and snacks all weekend.
The Corvette Corral ticket is approx $100 and it is not available on the WG website - you need to call the track and specifically ask for it. It lets you and your Corvette into the track all weekend.
We are staying in Ithaca NY in a Super 8 - it's nicer than it sounds . WG is in the Finger Lakes area and hotels can be a bit pricey and rooms are hard to find. Last time I checked, they still have rooms available. Many of us double up in rooms to cut the cost - 2 double beds per room works out well for many - you can of course get your own private room. www.super8.com - Ithaca NY location.
That's it - we have a lot of fun, eat bad food and drink too much beer - and generally be immersed in an all-car weekend.
PM me if you are interested in learning more.

Looks like we waited too long to book the hotel this year Claus - we'll give it a whirl and see how things go - no choice really...
