People aren't banned for "no reason." They typically are banned as a last resort after they have been cautioned several times about posting in conflict with site rules.
One of those rules has to do with questioning or criticizing Forum moderation in an open thread. The work of the site's volunteer moderators is difficult enough without having people take shots at them in an open thread.
Another of the rules prohibits hostile posting and personal attacks against other site users.
Probably the most often violated rule in the Canadian Events section, however, is the one designed to thwart the so-called vendor vs. vendor wars. It prohibits vendors, their employees and those identified as loyal customers or fanbois from using the site to undermine the sales of rival vendors.
There are people in this thread and mentioned in this thread whose mission in life seems to be to take jabs at a rival vendor, sometimes even posing as a customer of a vendor they have never done business with to complain about the vendor's services.
We have banned users and vendors on each side of such rivalries and will continue to do so, as necessary. Behave or be gone.
