You have the built-in SiriusXM ready tuner Frank, you just need the satellite receiver. Something along the lines as this.

http://shop.siriusxm.com/xm/ctl10600...able_tv_wiring

Really, it's just an satellite antenna.

I've got a Pioneer VSX SiriusXM Ready Receiver and it's what I have to buy to receive satellite radio.

Hey Frank.

I was just reading the manual for your receiver. There should have been an XM antenna included with the receiver.

You can find the manual here.
http://www.manualslib.com/manual/113...fx.html#manual

There is an optional AM/FM/XM combo antenna you can buy from Nuvo.

The digital subscriber ID should be located on the back of the receiver. Call up XM and give them that number to subscribe to XM service.

First question is, how many channels are there with a SiriusXM subscription? For the 30 channels I was getting, I don't think it's worth it. And I guess it is tied into my deck so it's only in my truck.

They're currently offering me $129/21 months to continue with the service. Offer expires April 13 according to the email.

Oh and I find it a little confusing that the website asks me if I have a Sirius, XM (older) or SiriusXM (newer) device and then channel listings show "online only"? I'm assuming SiriusXM receives all Sirius and XM channels.

Stan.
Hey Stan ... just renewed mine after I got this vehicle...I paid $70.00 for the year... They want your business... If I remember well I get around 140 channels !!! That's a decent deal for 21 months !!!

Thank you Stan, you're correct it came with an antenna, splitter, cables etc. In my original post I thought I only needed subscription which is what I was asking about and you just confirmed that also.

I find it's a high priced receiver and I only use the AM/FM part of it so I figured if I get a 1 year subscription all I need to do is give them the digital subscriber ID and I'm set? Do I pay extra if I want the weather portion to work or is it included?

I'll have to decide if "they're currently offering me $129/21 months to continue with the service. " is worth it. Are you saying it's $129.00 all in for 21 months? If so that's a really good price but it's probably for existing users only.

From what I read on the SiriusXM website, XMWeather is an extra cost. But if you call in and talk to the salesperson, you may be able to get it bundled with a plan. Doesn't hurt to ask. But you might be better off just to pick up a cheap weather radio that doesn't charge to actually listen in to the weather.

Because I had to buy the SiriusXM receiver separate from my deck, it came with a 3 month free subscription to try out and then to renew for 21 months for the $129 fee, plus a one time $35 activation fee plus HST, which would give me a 24 month subscription. Still humming and hawing on that.

that s a good deal Stan, i guess the 35 lifetime depends on weather you keep renewing it or are they going to router route in 24 months. depends if you drive around a lot i suppose.

You get a free pass as the last post was still in 2015.

Thanks for the info Al, I think I'm going to pass on XM also as we get more use out of Netflix than we would XM and Netflix price is almost half of XM. For me the XM would be for home use and I would have considered it for just over $100.00 (same price as Netflix) all in for one year but it seems that's impossible.

I found out that Sirius is running a special 6 months for $25.00

I called in and they activated it for me. With the new royalty and tax system it was about ~$42.00 or ~$7.00 month.

I don't know how long it is available for, so act fast if you're looking for summer cruising tunes.

Strange. I dialed 1-877-438-9677; pressed for cancellation department and said I want the $25.00 deal. The agent validated my account details and said no problem. They said they needed to add the royalty fee ontop of the $25.00. I asked for a recieot to confirm purchase and they will be emailing me in 24-48 hours.

Good luck! I went to the cancelation department - maybe they have more discretion on pricing???

Keep us posted.

Mine technically expires April 27/2015. So maybe that's why?

I called in a few times before and it seems like they keep notes on the conversations that take place. I was irate before, so I suppose this time and the timing of my subscriptions expiring very soon that they allowed it?

I will see what my receipt says. Wish you guys could get the $25 deal.

Been renewing the past few years at the same rate of $38.50 for six months, most recently last month. We have a Sirius internet radio in the office and a Satellite unit for the car/truck/boat/trailer, so for about $6.50/mo it's worth it.

I'd gladly pay more for the programming IF the offered better quality sound but frankly the quality is barely AM stereo. It's fine for background music but IMHO irritating for intent listening.
