You have a 500+HP engine, running over 7K redline.
Car's get driven hard, then people cry when they're not as reliable as a 4 cylinder Honda.
That LS7 is a race engine, masquerading as a street engine.
People that expect a high performance engine such as a LS7 to not have the occasional failure, especially when they're driven hard, need to get their head out of they're sphincters.
When you buy a engine, you can have 2 outa the 3 things.
1) Cost
2) Reliability
3) Performance
We all know the LS7 is Cost and Performance.
If you want Performance and Reliability, go buy a Porsche, and even then there is no guarantee.
If you want Cost and Reliability, go buy a Toyota.
You CANNOT have all 3.

The thing is, the LS7 dropping a valve is not anecdotal.
No need to cover for GM, they built a great engine but with a flaw and they don't stand up behind their product.
It can be argued that they provided a warranty and that blown engines were repaired. But the failure rate is very high. The out of specs engines are numerous and if these cars were driven 20-25,000km a year like normal cars, the amount of blown engines would likely be much higher.
The LS3 reliability proves it can be done. The LS7 with aftermarket heads are reliable. So it can be done. Anyone driving his Z06 with original heads is taking a 15k$ gamble.

Burning Brakes
When I bought my Z06 (07) last year I wasn't aware of the valve guide issue. Since I track my car a couple of times a year I went and had the guides, and rockers replaced. I saw the old guides. They were slightly out of round.

Advanced
If GM Canada sells me a GMPP on this '08 Z06 with 21,xxx km, do you think they'll fix it themselves (dealer fix) or approve a third party (custom shop/mechanic)? I would prefer the latter, of course: greater choice and control over parts installed.

Le Mans Master
Of course GM stated the wiggle test was inaccurate, it was costing them alot of warranty dollars!! Fix the heads or do aftermarket replacement heads and worry less - yes it is real !!!
