Mobil 1 Time-Attack Ford-Chevy Challenge at Mosport July 5
The Mobil 1 Time-Attack series is running a grudge match between Ford and Chevy products in this upcoming weekend's event at the former Mosport (now known as the Grand Prix circuit at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park). The series is running a one day school on Saturday for experienced drivers as well as sharing the track with the CASC full out race school. There are still a few lapping positions available for Saturday at $250.
On Sunday, we will be running a regular Mobil 1 Time-Attack event. We have decided to spotlight different makes of cars at different events (i.e last event at TMP spotlighted FRS/BRZ cars) but considering that Mosport is a real power track, we decided to re-visit the old Ford-Chevy rivalry. In Time-Attack, cars are scored, not just in class but with an overall score based on a PAX system. Prizes are minimal but bragging rights are severe. Still time to enter if interested. Very successful weekend for the Chevy crowd at the Mobil 1 Time-Attack event, especially as regards the Ford-Chevy Challenge. There were 9 Chevy products entered including 1 C4, 1 regular C5, 2 C5 Z06s, 1 regular C6, 1 C6 ZR-1, 1 C7 Z06 as well as a Cobalt SS and 2010 Camaro SS. The Ford contingent was much slower. All of the Chevy competitors, drove their cars to the track, not one trailer queen.
In Time-Attack, we look at the overall fastest times but to compare classes we use a PAX scoring system. (After all, you can't expect a Mustang to pretend to keep pace with most Corvettes). As it turns out, even including PAX scores, the Chevy side took the top 4 spots in the Ford-Chevy Challenge and the C6 Corvette took second overall and fastest time of day.
