CAI for a C5Z
Not sure if they make any difference but willing to hear from folks who have a CAI of any type.
Hear that Vararam are a real PITA to install. How about the others?

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Vararam IS a pain in the A$$ to install, especially on the C5, BUT they do have documented performance numbers (think it shaves 1/10th in the 1/4 mile, can't remember exactly). Of course doesn't show up on a dyno as you will never get the same volume of air as actual driving, even with a big fan, but the estimate is about 10 horsepower at speed which sounds reasonable, especially with versus a restrictive stock intake.
As many complain, the build quality is not the best, but it is a true ram air (cold air) intake as the intake ducts are right on the lower front of the car whereas other "cold air" intakes are merely sitting on the top getting warm ambient engine air, so you're basically just getting a better air filter.
My vote is Vararam, get it installed if you wanna save yourself the hassle. Just make sure to wash and clean out the re-useable air filter on a regular basis because it Does pick up tons of debris if you drive your car on a regular basis at all.

I have the Callaway 'Honker' - came with the car when I bought it so I can't speak to any differences. However if you research it you will find its well respected for CAI's for the C5. The quality is top notch. I can hear the intake sucking in air sometimes where I don't think the stock intake could. It's quite a bit larger then the stock intake probably double the filter size.

i have the Vararam on my '08 C6, it's a tight fit under the hood, it actually chews into the liner in one place. Can't speak to any improvement as it was installed before I bought the car, all i know is the car works well
