Other than making sure you undo whatever you've set up in the fall (charger, steel wool in the exhaust...) then it's a matter of not revving until your red line moves back from 4K rpm... Which you should be doing anyway.

Crank the engine with your foot to the floor for about 5-8 sec before you start it. Having your foot to the floor will prevent your injectors from spraying fuel into the cyl. and let you pump some oil up to the top of the motor.
When you start it for real your cam, lifters, rockers will love you for the extra oil up there before the initial fire up.

I can only tell you that on my C5 if I hold my foot to the floor the motor will spin over but not fire. Oil pressure will build quickly. Release the gas pedal and the motor will fire up on the next spin.

Yeah just like what black 03 z06 said foot to the floor before u turn the key or press the button the starter will crank the engine but it won't start. Keep your foot down for about 5-8 sec then just release the pedal and the engine will start.
