Went for Drive & Windows10 Installed Without Premission
We use an old laptop with Windows7 as interface to watch TV online. I took the Corvette out for an hour drive at 9:30 tonight and find Microsoft is installing Windows10 without asking. I check the net and find this has been happening to many people the last few days.
I called Microsoft and got an East Indian lady who said this could not happen.
My business is full of Windows7&8 very high end machines. I wonder if this could happen while processing an important job?

Microsoft wants to force all Windows 7/8 non domain joined computers to update to Windows 10 prior to the July 26 deadline.
And this automatic update does happen and there's nothing anyone can do about it unfortunately. Welcome to the new Microsoft where they force all updates on users. They are becoming more and more like Apple, it's getting scary.
There's a free app called Never10 that gives users the option to prevent all Windows 7/8 computers from upgrading to Windows 10.

I haven't heard of it automatically installing, but Microsoft got a little sneaky with the upgrade pop-up window ... clicking the X at the top-right actually tells it to proceed with the upgrade (instead of cancel and close the window, which is what you'd naturally assume hitting the X would do). So a lot folks probably got sucked in from that.

I have always set my PC's to "check for updates but let me choose" and on my only W7 PC when I go into the updates to see what is available the upgrade to W10 is an optional update which IS checked. If I had let this PC automatically update it would have done a W10 upgrade.
Sadly, if you allow all other W7 upgrades you're still getting a bunch of the tracking/telemetry recording crap that is in W10.

Net Full Of Horror Stories
Apparently, people are losing the use of their computer for 2-3 hours.
On chap was preparing info for important meeting and could not access his files.
I expect a U.S. class action where the law firm conducting the action gets tens of millions and the clients get a credit only good for Microsoft products.
