Default CT Formula 1 synthetic oil?

Anyone know what this oil quality is like? Any good?

It's on sale at CT starting Friday and for the price it's got me wondering if not for the vette maybe the DD.

I believe it's made by Shell. Decent oil and i use it in my 2 daily's. 10K intervals.

BTW, it goes on sale down to $21-$24 per jug around Nov/Dec time. I usually stock up during that time.

Hi....I was sponsored by Mobil 1 when I raced in the early 90's. ONE of only 2 drivers sponsored in Ontario at the time.

I received oil to run with, of course. I was told at the time by the sales rep that CTC synthetic is Mobil 1 and in an emergency that I could use it.

But for sure, it is NOT made by Shell. Mobil 1 is an Exxon product from the US and it is refined in Canada by Esso. ( Exxon and Esso are still tied together, as far as I know)

I picked up at the Esso refinery in North York.....end of story

There was a time when Canadian Tire synthetic was supplied by Esso, and at that time it could have been Mobil 1, but that was back in the 90s. The current CTC product is most definitely made by Shell, they have been the supplier for them for a while now.

Here is a Q&A on the Canadian Tire website where they answer who makes the oil, if you open the link to the MSDS it says right on it that the supplier is Shell:

Hi Patman..... I stand corrected ...no problem. Just putting forth the facts I had at hand.
I remember working at Sunoco when I was younger and a Shell engineer used to come in to get his oil changed all the time....he said, at that time, Sunoco had the only refinery in Ontario and Sunoco was producing the highest quality at the time...
So you just don't know.
I thought Esso/Exxon were almost one in the same, joined at the hip to say but the economy drives everything....

By the way, the oil I see for sale is not CTC, but Quaker State which is another "cup of tea" to say...

Yes very good oil.

Same as their regular formula 1 in silver jugs. Very very very good.

Thanks - I'd like to know why it's 'very good'?

The additive package that they use and the base oil that it's made from. Plus, goes on sale for $13 and is just as good as the big name jugs that are $40+
