Default tempting C6 , 188k worth the risk ?

found a 2007 Chevrolet Corvette A6 on autotrader for $21888 CAD , only catch is it has 188 000 km on it , from a place called FIESTA MOTORS in WOODBRIDGE, ON.

hmmm... at 188K is it worth the risk ? for future problems and maintenance

The price is about $10,000 less than most 07s, so for that money you could fix a lot of problems should they arise. I think high mileage cars are going to be more reliable since that means that the car has seen mostly highway duty. I would go for it!

It's likely had a rough life, and now has ended up at Fiesta Motors in Woodabridge I guess it depends on you and your expectations in a car. For me though, I'd pass.

If you are serious, get the VIN, invest $20 in getting the Used Vehicle Info Package, find the previous owner from the details provided, call them and have a chat.

Then decide from there.

I went to this dealership this past summer and checked out some cars. I was interested in a BMW they had on the lot. I met the owner, nice guy but I can tell you all the cars i looked at were priced way above market value. I bet you can negotiate this for a lot less with this mileage and like Patman said you can have a lot of $$ for repairs. Good luck.

No need to spend $20 on the used vehicle package, as all licensed car dealers by law have to show you the car fax report..... Start with that....look the car over real good....get someone to look at it with you....I wouldn't be afraid of it without checking it out .....

I would have a trusted mechanic do a once over for you - these cars can last a long time and like someone else said you can probably bring the price down.

Dan,
As an FYI, my experience is that in Canada carproof is the way to go. I relied on the carfax report that the dealer conveniently had. It did not have the complete history. When I ran a carproof after learning some stuff from the GM dealer where i was getting service i found out it had been in an accident which would have changed my initial decision to buy. From what i learned, in the US carfax is more reliable. In Canada it's the other way around. This is info from several years back so things may have changed.

My 2005 has just over 390,000 kms on it ... still looks and drives awesome! Oh, and my 2007 Z06 track car is just over 165,000 kms ...

Review the Carfax ... ask for all the past documentation (oil changes, repairs, etc.) look for anything out of the ordinary like large gaps in odo readings ect. Review what major items have been replaced / upgraded ... you could end up with a car with a fairly new engine, drive train, suspension, etc.

From my perspective, the car is just nicely broken in!
