I travel from Niagara in that direction several times a year in the Vette or on bike... We always make it back in one day regardless and have never had any problems. Your border crossing will break up the trip for you. The NCM is a nice visit but the true look at that area is getting to walk Nashville at night, or better yet Beale Street in Memphis. I would rate the freeway run between Nashville and Memphis as being one of the most dangerous pieces of highway anywhere; people truly dont know how to drive in that area. If you were looking at driving routes... I would definitely have lots of advise....
