Why not sign up with Belair Direct & plug one of those "Automerit" sensors into your car. After it measures your acceleration & braking habits - you'll be in for a big savings surprise on renewal!

Even if it saves you money? I have that device in my C6 and after a few months now I'm sitting at a potential 14% discount on my insurance when the assessment period is over. The "monitoring" that they do is not as strict as you think, they don't check your speed at all, just the rate of acceleration and braking and how often you drive between midnight and 4am. And I've found that it's quite easy to avoid the "sudden acceleration" portion of the monitoring if I do all my full throttle blasts while already on the move. In other words, if you're going 10km/h already and then hammer it to the floor, it doesn't record it as sudden acceleration! You could go 20-150 at full throttle and it doesn't show up as an acceleration event either. So as long as you do this, and avoid hard stops, you can easily get a 10-15% savings, and once the assessment period is over, the device is removed and the monitoring is over with forever, but the discount remains!

So I have no problems altering my driving habits for a few months in order to save $$$ for many years to come.

That's too bad that you couldn't work out a deal Al. But to answer your questions, in case others are curious, you only need the Automerit device in one of your vehicles, and you can choose which one, but then the discount ends up being applied to all of your cars. So this can work out really well if you've got a wife with a light foot, as she could put it in her car and you'd get the benefit.

Wow! I was only kidding about one of us putting in the watchdog monitoring device.
But to hear all you saying it may be the way to go...?
I don't want to live in a world where Corvette drivers are limiting their acceleration!

Like I said though, you can still go full throttle on the roll and this device doesn't trigger any warning, or you can put it on a second car and still drive your Vette the way you want. Either way, you save money on insurance, and isn't that the point here? I honestly don't mind altering my driving for a few months if it means I'm going to save literally hundreds and hundreds of dollars on my insurance in the long run. It's a small sacrifice IMO

My wife works at a corporation that gives all their employees a corporate insurance rate if they choose to and its really reasonable. Most employees there do not take advantage of this duh. Here is what I pay

2005 Toyota Camry $ 584.00
2010 Corvette Grand Sport $ 477.00
2016 Honda Pilot $ 699.00
2004 1200 Harley Sportster $ 490.00

That is full coverage per year mind you I live in a rural area

A lot of companies offer this and a lot of times employees forget that it was offered it to them. I have a number of friends that were offered that but basically they didn't bother or didn't want to switch. So just thought I put it out there for you to check if your company has that offer, just saying.

What would happen if I had the device and I track the car?

You'd get no benefit out of doing that, you're better to choose another vehicle you own instead to put the device into.
