Default Costco fuel

I Costco gas station just opened up right around the corner and the price is cheap compared to the rest.

Is the fuel quality good or is it too good to be true?

It's rated as
'Top Tier"

Can't get any better than that

I use Costco premium almost exclusively in my C6, it's very high quality fuel at a much lower rate than the others. I often fill up with premium at Costco for the same price as regular at the other stations! The nice thing about Costco premium is that it's ethanol free, so you're going to see about a 5-10% improvement in fuel economy compared to using the ethanol enhanced premiums out there. Shell is the supplier for Costco so the formula is somewhat similar as well, as as USAF mentioned, it's top tier so you really can't argue with that, any top tier rated fuel is going to help keep your fuel system clean for many years. And if you're worried about that in the slightest, just throw in a bottle of Techron or Gumout Regane once a year.

I used to fill up at Costco routinely. I got sick and tired of the line ups.

I now fill exclusively at Canadian Tire. Way more locations, no line ups, top tier gas and money back on my CT "E" card to use in store. I average $ 2-3.00 back each fill

At a 1% return, just what exactly are you filling up to get that much back, Mike?

It's not 1%, it varies each day, 5x points, 10x points 15x points etc etc. Plus I use premium and in my job as a territory rep, I use a lot of gas

i would rather wait 5 minutes and pay 1.07 instead of 1.24. go at 7.30 during the week or 9am on sundays, no line ups more than 5 minutes on sunday and 2 min during the week.
.14 is 8 bucks a tankful.

The lineups can most definitely be frustrating at times, but the savings at Costco is much better than $2 to $3 per fill up, yesterday I filled up my C6 for $69.48 at the 400 & 7 Costco, it would have been $78.58 at my nearest Canadian Tire. And I already get 2% cash back on my Mastercard no matter where I use it anyways. Over the course of a year buying at Costco ends up being a pretty big savings. I don't like giving the gas companies any more money than they already gouge out of me.

If I can't get to a Costco in my travels, CT is my back up though, but I generally won't fill up when I use them (unless it's a CT in Brampton when they have their gas wars going on) I'll put enough gas in to get me by until I'm near a Costco again (such as driving to a Jays game, I'll stop along the way in Etobicoke to fill up)

I hear ya Pat. Wish I had the time to wait in lineups or I'd be filling up there more often. I know you city boys are used to line ups

In the meantime, it seems I always have CT 'E' money available to pay for small purchases. Nice to walk in a store and walk out without paying for something

Thanks for the info guys. I did not know the quality of the gas there was that high. I go about an hour after the store closes and there is a line up of 1 or 2 cars at most. Gas bar open/shuts down 1 hr before/after the store - morning is usually brutal in my area but pm is a breeze.

I use the Costco in Etobicoke. No issues with my Z06 using Costco gas.
As far as waiting, if I go around 9 in the morning or after 6 there is no line. As long as there are no cars waiting on the street the wait is around 10 minutes.

Do you need a Costco membership to buy their gas?

I'm assuming so but I thought I would ask.

Yes you do, but if you use a lot of gas it is worth it, plus your wife can go shopping in the store

And you can get a hot dog and a drink for $1.50! Also, their ice cream cone is massive and only $1.99, it's the best deal going, I ate a ton of them this summer
