Default Valvoline synthetic oil sale

Noticed it in the Walmart flyer - $19.88 for 4.73L.

Not sure how good this oil is but the price seems good!

CTC has Mobil 1 5W - 30 on sale the week of November 25 to December 1, 2016 for $28.79.

Thanks for the heads up on the Valvoline 04.

I am at Wally World now. The V-Oil has full Dexos certification.

Good by me.

my 07 requires GM4718, Dexos does not meet the standard, is it also GM4718 compliant?

Dexos1 supersedes the old GM4718M requirement so if it passes dexos1 certification you're good to go! Dexos1 is actually a harder test to pass than GM4718M was.

I don't remember reading anywhere that the standard is backward compatitble, typically the Dexos1 oils are blend of synthetic whereas my 07 calls for fully synthetic?

I would still stick with the full synthetic dexos1 stuff, but it is definitely the replacement for 4718:

If we use Mobil 1 as the benchmark (and it is cuz GM specifies it in Corvettes) the Valvoline is the equal in Phosphorus and Zinc, has more Calcium and Sodium than Mobil 1, but not as much Boron.

take from this what you want...

Nothing? You guys surprised me - I though you'd have been all over this !!!

Anyways I came across a VOA of AC Delco 5W-30 and to my surprise it compares well to the Mobil 1. But as we all know it is a blend and not a full synthetic...
