Sounds like a joy ride to me.

They find vehicles they like, brake into them, drive them to where ever they want to go and dump them.

I found an abandoned Mustang once on our street. Turns out that's what it was.
Just like you, I bet the owner was just glad to get it back.

Congrats (in getting it back, not having it stolen).
Ken

PS. Damn, I forgot to take the tools out, mental note to check the back next time....lol

Good to hear you got your truck back. How did they start and drive it without damaging the steering/ignition lock? In my case part of the hidden damage was that they had actually bent the steering column when they smashed out the lock!

Where was it found - I mean in Toronto or did they take it far away?
Any idea if it was only used for a day by the thieves - or driven until the gas ran out.

was found here apparently

The police phoned me this morning. They found it in the underground lot at Dufferin Mall.
The police have towed it to 11 division. They're checking for fingerprints. From there my insurance company is towing it to a body shop.
I was told the door/ignition locks were punched. The inside was ransacked. There doesn't appear to be any body damage (according to police).
That's all I can do for now. I'm off to Barrett-Jackson tomorrow so I'll deal with it when I get back.

Both the door lock and ignition lock were punched out. The body shop replaced the ignition switch, the door handle is on order.

I filled the tank a couple of days before it was taken. I always re-set the odometer when I fill the tank.
When I looked the truck over yesterday there was only 94 km"s since the last fill up.
The vehicle was taken on North Queen and was found at Dufferin Mall. That's around 15 km. So they probably didn't drive it that much before dumping it.

Default Update

I picked the truck up today. It looks/drives like nothing happened.

But get this. I found a 3/8 Mastercraft socket set and an 18 inch screwdriver in my tool bag. I've never seen them before.
They don't belong to the body shop.
Could whoever stole the truck be that stupid to leave their tools behind?

Damn, now I know where I left that socket set....

Glad you got your ride back. Wish I could have gotten one of my trucks back, never saw it again.
Congrats

I told my daughter about my two trucks being stolen from the GO train lot and she promptly went into my Jeep and took my Club. She locks the jeep up every day.
