Default Toronto Auto Show 2017 - Goodbye dear Vette?

Went to the show today - since the time has come for me to change out of my 2011 C6.
Gotta say the all new 2018 Mustang looks very good - & with the new 10 speed auto - it may just be enough for me to give up driving a manual...?
Only problem is - it's still just a Mustang.
But then a loaded Mustang GT conv. comes in under $60G - while you can imagine a similarly optioned Vette will put me back close to $100G!
Guess I need time to sleep on it - or maybe someone to hold an intervention!

Easy solution - keep the Vette and buy a Mustang...

I like that you are thinking outside of the box!
But then the question becomes - which car does one park out in the rain/snow?

Thats an easy decision, the vette stays outside if you leave the FORD out it will fall apart. Cant wait til you go into ford for service. Been there done that never again!!

Good luck we will see you on this forum again.

Default Why change out of your C6

Why do you want/need to change out your beautiful 2011 C6 anyway ?
Your car looks and probably is near mint.... so why ?

Thanks - I had it factory ordered & so it is/was exactly as I wanted - & has only 18,000 Km.
But what I wanted 6 years ago has changed...
I've gotten used to the back-up camera, blind spot warning lights, parking beeps, & other silly stuff in my truck - that this Vette doesn't have.
Plus I'm used to changing vehicles every few years - even if it means saying goodbye to a perfectly good car.
Yes I've had regrets - over past Corvettes, Camaros & even a Mustang or two...
But I guess the lure of having a shiny new thing in my garage is too much.
So I'm still a car guy - just not a collector.
I'm sure a good number of people reading this now are heading to the show for the same reason!
So - what's next on your list?

Some are great cars - & all are certainly much better than any Mopar!

Lol, I was just building on Bullet 79's post - I have bought 7 cars in my lifetime and only 1 hasn't been GM and it wasn't a Ford. The way the Corvette design (and price) is going who knows I might be in a Mustang when my C6 starts falling apart.

you will be using a walker before your corvette "falls apart", but if u buy a ford, that is another story.

The GT350R is good value for the money. I saw one at a Porsche event at Mosport last year. It looked pretty good on the track.

Now you sound like a very intelligent & practical person.
And I must agree with you - selling a slowing depreciating asset to acquire one that will depreciate faster - is a bit silly.
But I don't agree with you that anyone who buys a new car - even those with new C7's - must be f' nuts.

Thanks - I can use that when convincing my wife - "good value for the money".
I'm not completely sold on the idea of a new Mustang quite yet - but since they sorted out the rear end - I've been interested in buying one again.
But then - I might just as easily get a new Vette... or a used Mercedes SL?
Now either of those would be a much easier sell on her!

Ok - I get that.
But let's imagine you go out today & someone runs a stop sign - & you suddenly own a write off (sorry about that).
And then for some crazy reason - your insurance company gives you full retail value for your loss.
Would you go out & replace it with another used C6?
Or - might you head to the car show & pick from the wide variety of shiny new things!
And if so - What new toy would you choose?

Under those circumstances I would definitely not be buying a used C6 (I only buy new cars and that too usually a factory order) - I would take my time to find some American muscle of my liking but would not rush into any purchase. At this very moment I don't know what I would buy to be honest...
