Default Car Wash

I just ran my new vet through a car wash and you would not believe what happened.

Just kidding.

Any advice on liquid wash? I have been using Mr. Clean system on other cars which actually works for us in the deep (limestone) south. But how harsh is this wash on the wax? Any better wash that will not take off all that labor in wax?

THanks in advance.

I use mother car wash, I tried Zaino, but it is alittle expensive and it is easier to go the store and get it.

Any soap that does not contain detergents will work fine. Detergents will strip wax right off the car and make the finish dull.

Meguires also makes a good soap.

Good luck

People can be absolutely NUTS about car wash detergent. However, any good sudsing, proper PH car wash will work well. Acoid dish detergent because its ph will strip wax and finishes such as Zaino. I use whatever I can find at WalMart - usually Maguires. I also use Zaino when I really feel like treating baby to a special treat. IMO, the Zaino is a little better, but it may be wishful thinking that my expensive wash is better. It does seem to do a better job on bug removal, but this time of year, I can't see much difference. I am a two bucket washer and always rinse my wash rag between touches to the car to prevent dust/debriis transfer. That seems to work and my Torch Red 2000 really has no swirls and the finish is perfect.

What do you guys think of the touchless car washes that do not use anything but jets of water/detergent/triple wax to clean the car, and rinse with spotless water? I've been very impressed with our local wash. I get great results with my other cars. The trick is to get in there once a week, before any road grime has a chance to stick. If this would be a no-no with my '02 vert, is pressure washing at home safe enough? Or no pressure washing at all? Help educate me to the ways of the force!

I've used car wash soap from Wal-Mart or the local auto parts store before - usually something like Mothers or Mequires. I've also taken mine to the local car wash and pressure washed it - always using the self serve wand.

I have used the cheap stuff from Wally World, Blue Coral, seemed to work well...but now I use Meguires and love it.

I also use Mequires... Gold, and am well pleased with it. As said earlier, avoid the dishwahing soaps.

I have a whole collection of product in my garage and I really like the
Meguires NXT. It does very well with the hard water we have here in Vegas.

Great looking car by the way.

We have a touchless close by that I have not had problem with other cars, but I am less likely to drive the vette into because of the wheel guides they use might scuff my wheels.

I just like to wash in the driveway and let the neighbors watch.

At my age and given my current condition/shape, my neighbors have asked me not to bend over too far when I wash my sweetheart. It's not a pretty sight!
