Dash glare fix?
I have to admit that there is one thing that really kind of bothers me about my C5 Z06. That is the glare through the windshield on the dash. It can be blinding at times when I am driving in the direction of the sun. The glare on the dash reflected on the inside of the windshield makes it rather difficult to see sometimes.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone else fixed it?
I'm looking at a dash mat or cover that is sort of a carpet pad, but not sure this would make the inside look kind of tacky. If it doesn't fit perfectly, it may look really lousy. But I need to do something about it.
Any suggestions?

Try removing any protectant that you may have on your dash by wiping it with a damp cloth or a damp cloth with a mild detergent on it.

Is the dash naturally flat or supposed to have a shine to it? I bought it used, so I have no idea what someone else may have done to it before I got it. Most I have done is sprayed it with windex while cleaning the inside of the windshield.

The dash is not very shiny at all from the factory. I usually just use a damp cloth on mine and on rare occasions I will hit it with a light coat of Z10.
I have a special bottle of Z10 that I added a touch of Z16 to it so it gives an ever so slight darkening effect leaving a matte type finish. The more Z16 the shinier it makes it. Z10 alone does not really change the look from factory.
Sounds like whoever had the car before you put some type of Armor All product on it making it shinier. Removing it should fix your problem.

thats the stuff i use and its been the best stuff ive used among all the amoral, wipes, and what not. Aerospace protectant has been my favorite. Gives it that factory look to it with very little annoying shine

303 Aerospace cleaner, not 301. At the same link you need to order some 303 protectant - this is what you'll want to put on your dash. Won't give any annoying shine. Also excellent for all interior surfaces. The only thing I don't use it on is the leather - I use a specific leather product for that.
