Zaino - How much is too much?
While waiting for my light to come back from Corvette Enhancements, I have not been able to drive my Torch Red Coupe. This is what I have been doing for the last two weeks.
I started with Z-AIO, followed by three coats of Z-5 pro with a wipe down of Z6 in between coats. After the three coats, I would wipe down with Z-CS. I did this two times, one day apart. I can say one thing, the results were amazing at this point, and could have stopped right there. The next day, I gave it another shot of Z-6 followed by Z-CS, and followed by a wipe down with Z-8.
The next weekend I was still waiting for my lights, so I proceeded to mix up some Z-2. I did three coats of Z-2 with a wipe down of Z-6 in between. This was also followed up with a shot of Z-CS followed with a shot of Z-8. I did this on two consecutive days. Again the results were amazing!
Since then I have given it a couple of wipe down of Z-6 and a few coats of Z-CS.
I also did my chrome rims with Z-2, Z-6, and Z-CS.
It seems the shine has gotten deeper and deeper with each and every coat. I can’t wait to get the car outside in the natural light to see what it really looks like. In the garage it looks like a big red mirror. I have received my lights and should be back on the road early this week.
I am very impressed with all the Zaino products that I have used. This is really only the second time I have ever applied it to my car. It definitely is a little bit of work, its not hard work, but very time consuming. I feel that the results are definitely worth the extra effort.
After all this babbling, I have two questions. If you put multiple coats of Z-CS on, should you wipe down with Z-6 in between, or will that take the Z-CS off? After how many layers are you wasting you time? I know what I did was a little over kill, but I think I'm addicted to Zaino!! I think there is something to that smell!

You must be getting close to going into product overload. You are fine using Z6 between coats of CS but I prefer to follow CS with Z8. I think I would wait until after you wash the car before adding any more coats of Zaino. I would say 3 coats of CS at a time max.
And yes, there is something in the smell that is addicting. That and the shine.

Sal told me one time that after 10 coats you are definitely wasting your time, and yet he knew of someone who did a lot more than 10!
I hope you are using ZFX if you are doing multiple coats at a time, and I hope you have Z2P.
At this point your car must look great, and I would say you have done a great job and to quit there.
If you really want to be fanatical, and if you don't mind the time/effort/money, after your next wash, dry it good, hit it very lightly with Z6, a quick coat of Z5P, ZCS, and a light Z8. You could do this every wash and alternate with Z5P and Z2P.
Or at this point just wash and a light Z6 will also look great.
I did a similar complete Zaino job like you recently and I have yet to wash it, so I'm not sure what I am going to do after the first wash.

I don't have nearly close to that many applications on my vehicles and after a wash and dry I just spritz it with some Z6 to make sure I didn't miss any water spots and it looks as good as the day I applied my Z5 or Z2. That's one of the main reasons I stick with Zaino, the durability and looks.

A lot of people say you don't need much, a bottle should last you a year, even you've said that, how can it last you a year when they're doing multiple coats like that?
i think if you just have your base zaino products initially, and top with cs, and z8 as most experienced users recommend, i think it should be good.

Or when you can't stand up straight because your back and knees hurt so much.
Trust me.
As far as saving money, I don't know about that. I still have enough product to do five or six more cars. At about an ounce per three coats, its way more economocial than traditional wax.

isn't the whole point of zaino to save you money?

I've never looked at Zaino as saving me money.
A bottle doing multiple coats at a time will not last me a year, it will last me longer. I can get about 50 coats out of a bottle.
The poster sounded rather fanatical, as I can be at times, so that's who I offered my advice too.
Where he's at right now, like me, could easily last him six months with regular washings if he wants. It depends on how much time and effort anyone wants to spend.
After a wash right now I could put on a coat of Z5P in 15-20 minutes.
Washing and drying will take me longer.

I'm not nuts guys, Really, I'm not nuts!
It's been sunny and 70 the last few weekends, and my car is not driveable. Bored more than anything.
Last year I put a few coats of Z-5 and Z-2, washed with Z-7, and maintained with Z-6 and Z-8. It lasted all summer. This was more of an experiment than anything.
Not a daily driver, more of a weekend toy.

You only needed to use Z-AIO initially. I wouldn't use Z-AIO again for another 6 months.
Hopefully you used ZFX with your Z-5Pro coats when applied one after another. Otherwise, you need to wait 6-8 hours between coats.
You need to let the Z-CS cure for 8-12 hours between coats. I would wipe down with Z-6 or Z-8 between coats. (Layering is a good thing!)
I would also agree that after 6 coats of Z-2Pro or Z-5Pro, you aren't improving much in the area of gloss/shine. I hope it made you feel better. I know I usually feel better.
