Default What are the special care instructions for the clear targa panel?

Got my clear oem panel for my targa conversion in today. Being lexan/acrylic or whatever I know it's very easy to scratch/swirl (we have a lexan rear window in the Panoz). I noticed a warning on it to consult the owner's manual for proper care/cleaning instructions.

Can annyone tell me what they are?

Thanks,
Brian

I too just clean it with soap and water just like the rest of the car and when needed will use a good quality glass cleaner to wipe it down. Don't have my owners manual handy or I'd look it up and see what it says in the manual.

don't leave it sitting out in the sun all the time if you want it to stay clear.

you getting a body colored panel too?

I had the glass tops with three of my Corvettes since 1991. I treat them like I treat the paint on my car. I wash and wax it.

Crap... I wasn't planning on it... I like the clear top. This one has a few small cracks... I may just use this one, and if it fails, get a re-man'd one.

A good sealant like zaino will protect it.

Some use plexus.

I was doing Poorboys polish with sealant on my Vette last weekend and thought, hmmmm, why not put it on the clear top? I did and the top looked cleaner afterwards. Treat it like the paint.

I have been using Zaino Z8 on my plexiglass tops for years. It works great and protects them.

I would use products specifically made for Lexan/Acrylic such as Novus or Plexus. Some window cleaners contain ammonia which can cause white hazing over time.

A good rule of thumb is if a product is safe for a flat panel LCD computer screen or a large screen tv that it should be safe for your top.

As others mentioned, soap and water is probably your safest bet.

^ Cool... thanks. This one has some cracks in it so I may use it this year to get my targa project done then use it as a core to get a re-furb'd acrylic one from Astro.

Another vote for Plexus used with a clean microfiber towel.

Default what about scratches?

I am going to put my smoked targa on, but have had a cat around since the rat ate my wires one night. (finally fixed it)

Can a cat scratch it by walking over it?

kill it and use the coat for cleaning wheels (before you defend the cat, find out what it thinks of you, I bet it doesn't really care that much about you)

I use Z6 & Z8 on my top

It's not my cat to destroy, but my dog gives it a shot daily anyway.

It appears my dog knows how much those cats care...

The best advice is to make sure you lock it down. I can't believe how many people actually forget to do this!
I mean really, put it on, lock it. How tough can that be?
