Default micro fiber towels or fieldcrest 100% cotton

Which is safer for a swirl free finish on a dark color ? I have plenty of fieldcrest 100% cotton towels, but all these references to MF towels have me wondering?

Micro fiber is good when ordered from Autogeek or a place that ensures quality. I use micro fiber from them for my interior and one on the windows but use Ralph Lauren Classic II 100% USA Cotton for the paint.

one thing you have to be extra carefull with cotton towels is that the edges are usually sewn with a thread that is not cotton and if it comes in contact with paint will scratch

I know, having learned the hard way

Won't scratch your car like the edges of a towel. Autogeek's MF towels are specifically made for detailing your car and if you buy the right ones, they're edgeless and have no tags, which also scratch your car. MF all the way.

MF... Go to autogeek and get what you need. YOu get a 10% disc since they are a supporting vendor but they sometimes run better sales as well.

I have not used them yet, but recently got some MF's from Steve @ ultramicrofiber.com and they look really good. I'll post up when I try them out.
Send him an e-mail if you have specific questions.

Unfortunately not even 100% cotton towels are always pure cotton. The binding edges and pattern designs likely have polyester in them and can scratch.

Thanks to all for the kudo's .... http://www.autogeek.net/mictow.html

Both, I use mf for removing polish residue and 100% cotton for removing Zaino or wax.

Both. I use MF Guzzler for drying, the MF Indigo for polish removal, and Ralph Lauren towels for application of Z6/Z8. I think I do that because the car isn't 100% clean every time I use a QD, and no way do I want to get my precious MF towels dirty!!

This may sound silly, I used 100% cotton baby diapers (the ones people used 100 years ago), and they worked great, high end detail shop carry them, I got bag of 12 for $18 bucks.

I use Dominique France Concours (DF Concours) 100% cotton towels on my Black Coupe. They are made of a blend of microfiber cotton and pima cotton and contain no artificial fibers in the weaving, or sewing and binding of the edges. They are perfectly safe on dark paint.
