Default Spot free rinse???

Here in South Florida a lot of the self service car washes have a selection for "Spot Free Rinse". What the heck is in the water to make a it spot free?? It does seem to work.

In principle, it's basically the same type of chemical that is used in a dishwasher to sheet water during the dry cycle after rinsing. It is NOT the same chemical.

It is better than plain water if you do not plan to towel-dry your car and just drive off after rinsing.

Basically, they use a water wetter to increase sheeting action, but they also could use (but a bit impractical) deionized water. :seeya

If they advertise a spot free rinse, it is almost certainly de-ionized water. I've been using de-ionized water for my detailing business for the last 16 years or so, and can't imagine working without it here in SoCal.

A friend of mine who has a 98 Vert owns a chain of car washes. He told me that the rinse water in his bays, is deionized.

Good luck.

Hmmm...

I wonder if anyone makes a small, portable "home" deionizer that's reasonably priced?

Maybe this one?

Couldn't find a price though...
