Default Water spots on my 2006 C6

I bought a 2006 Monterey Red Coupe and it has old water spots apparently from a sprinkler on the paint. I used a Clay Bay from Eckler's to get the spots off of the windows and that worked very well. Does anyone know how to get the water spots off of the paint or a reputable detailer in Sacramento/Rocklin CA ? I don't want buffer swirl marks all over it. Thanks !

Had the same issue with my black '99 vert. Just use 1 part vinegar to 3 parts distilled water. You'll be good as new again.

You can go to 50/50 vinegar/water, take your time, be patient. Of course some may have been there long enough to cause damage to the clear so just realize you may need to seek pro help if something doesn't come off fairly easily. Good luck.

You have a couple of very easy options that don't require a pro. The water/vinegar may work, but unlikely if the spots have been there and are etched into the clear coat. You could consider using a polish by hand or buy a Porter-Cable and this would definately remove them w/o the fear of buffer swirls/holograms. I would do some research in the auto care section or at autopia - lots of info on various approaches.

I just got rid of some stubborn ones. Isopropyl/vinegar/H2O didn't work so I used menzerna final polish II on a white pad at 6 on the PC, followed by Nano on a green pad. I then put on a glaze and then some Souveran.

  1. if hours old: quick detailer
  2. also if very "young" spots - vinegar has claim to fame (but has never done any good in my hands, even at full strength.
  3. Hand application of 3M 39002 with cotton t-shirt or foam pad (LOTS of work, but it does work : see my pictures at bugmanweb - click on "waterspots")
  4. Best: favorite polish (Zaino PC fusion, Menzerna intensive polish or 3M 39002) with orange pad, PC setting 5 to 6.
