Default Taped on stripes, can you buff over them??

My friend just bought a new car with red taped on stripes from the factory. When he's polishing the car with his pc, will it hurt the stripes if he goes over the stripes with the buffer?
Thanks for your time and help.

You do not want to buff over the stripes as you will get a buildup of polish on the edges and could possibly damage or even remove them with the buffer.

Take some blue painters tape and cover stripes with that and then polish the car.

I always tape the trim and any tape or vinyl stripes and any sharp edges before I buff a car.
