Default what protectant to use on black plastic, molding

I saw a post in the past about this, but can't find it on the search.

Someone commented on armor all turning white after a while when used on black bumpers and mirrors. I noticed the same thing happening with my beater truck.

There are products for black plastics. Can someone mention one that works well?

thanks in advance

303 Aerospace Protectant is very good for this application. Also supplies UV protection.

One thing I really like about Zaino is that I applied it to my black moulding and it looked pretty good. No more having to be careful where you put your wax and using multiple products (for the trim items at least) for detailing.

the thing i noticed is that armor all turns white after it gets rained on (over time). Is there anything that stays clear/black.

Armor All Contains Silicone, so shouldnt be used on anything rubber, vinyl, leather, or plastic

3 choices. I used Plexus Plastic Cleaner on all of my plastics, and 303 Aerospace Protectant on my vinyl (which also works on plastic, but I liked plexus a little better). However, I have ordered some Zaino plastic cleaner, so I will tell ya how that works. But just get 303 and use it on plastic and vinyl).

Many protectants exist, some are water based and need to be reapplied after a heavy rain or two. Some contain silicones and often make plastics look bad and dry again after some time. You also have products that dye or are slightly more permanent in design for faded trim.

303 is great for your water based protectant. Solution Finish is nice for well faded trim needing a more permanent repair. Sonax makes a nice gel product to keep trim looking good for longer than an average protectant. You should always clean the area well before using any product to help the product adhere and work as designed.

Agree. 303 on all the plastics and rubber. Good stuff. I use it tires too. I don't like the slick look of some products. 303 on all the rubber, plastic trim and tires.

Have you all tried 303's Speed Detailer also ??? It offers UV protection and looks great on paint. Another great product from 303.

I didn't know they made a detailer. I'll have to look into it. Thanks for the info.

I've tried a bunch of them, Back to Black, Black Wow, ect. and they look great for a few days then they're gone.

I found a product called "Wipe New" that's been on for a month now and still looks great. You want to use your gloves, the stuff stinks and stays on your skin. Ask me how I know.

Rick
