anyone use the California Duster
I've seen this duster advertised buy am wondering if it is worth the money or are there other things that will work just as well. My C5 is a daily driver and where I have to part, there is a lot of road dust in the air.

I have used one since 1985, a good product if you know how to use it correctly, the wood handle ones are better quality (mop head wise) than the plastic handle ones.

I have had one for a couple months now. Even though I keep the car in the garage, I get a dust build up if it sits there for a week or so. The Duster seems towork pretty well and I have not noticed any adverse effects.

I like it a lot. It only works on a clean, waxed/polished car that has a thin layer of surface dust. Use it with a light hand, don't 'scrub' with it, and don't try to use it to clean a car that needs washing. With those caveats, it's a really handy and fast way to get rid of the dust, and probably less abrasive than using quick-detailer and a towel to get this kind of dust off.

I've had one a while, and it works well. The only problem I've had with it is that the wax on the duster can sometimes leave streaks on a Zaino'd car. They wipe right off, so its not a big thing.

I consider the CCD a key tool in reducing the chances of scratching my car when doing my daily quick detailing routine. I would much rather spray QD on a car that's just been CCD'd as opposed to relying on the lubricants in the QD spray to act as a buffer against swirling my cars when wiping a towel on a surface that has a slight amount of dust.
As in any detailing regiment, common sense prevails when using the CCD. It won't scratch your car if you use it very lightly, gliding it and letting only the weight of the strands brush your car. Also, never use it on a car that's more than just slightly dusty.

I have noticed with the darker colors you get the wax streaks. My car is black and and it leaves marks which are easily taken off with Mequiar's Quick Detailer, ect. It's definitley good for the car shows!

9vette3 and Fourthrail, The best thing to do prior to using a new duster is to lay it on newspaper for several days repositioning it every now and then to get the oily/waxy whatever substance that is in it out:) This will prevent the streaking :U

I also have used one for years. I find that you need to draw out most of the wax on a new duster by leaving on paper, or try washing it in Woolite. My 4 year old duster works better than the new one, which does leave some streaks. I agree that it is probably better to do a light dusting to remove surface dust on a clean car than it would be to Z6 directly, which may cause some minor scratching from the dust particles.
If your car is just dusty it is easier to use the CD and follow it with Z6 than it is to wash, dry, and then Z6.

I used mine 3 times last week for pollen removal. Followed it up a couple of times with Z6. No problems at all. Very little evidence of the pollen on the Z6 towel.
how are these at removing pollen???
the pollen is terrible around here this time of year

BTW I got the $8 one from big lots and it works fine.
