Default Remove Wax Residue

I had my Z06 professionally detailed and they really did a great job. However, after I got hit in a rain storm I noticed that there is a white wax residue on my side door panels.

What is the best way to remove the wax residue? I went over it with the Adams VRT but it wont go away after the VRT dries or get caught in the rain.

Ive heard that rubbing alcohol works with a micro-fiber towel?

Your thoughts or suggestions?

A detailing/cleaning spray usually works for me, or you could put some diluted car wash soap into a spray bottle, let it soak for a little bit and wipe it out with a soft cloth/sponge.

The VRT stuff is most likely for top-coating, not for cleaning.

50/50 isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) / water mix should work.

Have the detailing place restore the surface. That's what you paid them to do in the first place.

Methylene Chloride, also known as DICHLOROMETHANE, is the active ingredient in paint stripper

Drys very fast,,cold to the touch,,has been used in the past as a Freon type product for cooling.

NOT to be put on a painted surfaces Is a carcinogen

STAY AWAY from this stuff

peanut butter ...really !

Often times a soft paint brush, can help remove dried wax if stuck in a crack. You can also find commercial wax removers like Wax Blaster.

Default Thank you

1. Right off the bat I will try the Rubbing Alcohol..

2. I asked the guys who detailed the car and they said it was there before they started... IMO no need to get into a pissing contest. Rather take the high road.

3. I will purchase the Wax Blaster which was also a great idea.

If the deailter gave you that kind of answer, I would think twice before going to them again.

That wasn't even a consideration after I saw the wax.

I dont have any personal stock (offsite) but likely back as soon as possible. Till then, try the paintbrush/toothbrush if in cracks. Likely either old wax or dried polish.

Stay away from Methylene Chloride. There are easier/better ways to remove old wax. Depending how "caked on" it is, peanut butter will work and so will Dawn Dishwashing Soap (as an example) in that it will soften up heavier "applied and dried" amounts.

I just finished detailing a triple black 1999 vert with Zaino.

Owner is now convinced to stay away from carnauba-based products PERIOD because of this problem after I showed him how good his car can look. I used a soft tooth brush with some bristles shaved off to get in to the cracks between panels and Body Side Molding.

I never thought of that. You can kill two birds with one stone. You can detail your car and have lunch at the same time.

That was a really unbelievably shoddy answer from the detailer. Sounds like they don't even care that they are admitting lack of dealing with an area that needed treated.
