Default Xpel Clear Bra issues...will they stand behind it?

I have a 2005 C6. I had a Xpel clear bra put on the mirrors and front bumper 1.5 years ago. It has yellowed significantly.

I tried cleaning it with Xpel's Flawless Finish Clear Bra Cleaning Spray over the weekend. I wiped the clear bra down with a mix of 25% Isopropyl Alcohol and 75% water to clean it before applying Xpel's Spray.

I applied the spray while my car was inside my garage so it was not in the sun. Portions of the clear bra turned almost a rose color right before my eyes. I couldn't believe it!

As you all know, I take very, very good care of my vehicles! I have Xpel clear bra on my 2005 C6, 2009 Hummer, 2005 NSX and 2002 Ferrari 360 (Xpel Ultimate on the 360). They all look perfect many years later!

Xpel's warranty is seven years. I wonder of they are going to cover it? I wonder if they will try to pull a fast one and say "we will cover the material only?

Anyone have experience with Xpel's warranty and give me an idea what to expect? Is it just a waste of my time? The clear bra really looks bad!

Have to called the installer? The company? If you have 4 other vehicles done with Xpel and they still look great after all these years, I'm sure something when wrong with the manufacturing of the Xpel orthe install on your 2005.
Could the underside of the paint be causing the problem???
I have read a ton of posts concerning Xpel..this is the first one I've heard of with this sort of problem.
Please post your findings. Good luck.

Sounds like some sort of adverse reaction to something on the surface of the film. Doesn't matter though...call Smartshield there in Phoenix and schedule an appointment. They will warranty it for you no problem.

I put this on my wife's Chrysler 300C when it was only 1 week old. But I think mine was a different brand, but similar technology (InvisiBra? or something like that).
After 2 years it started to yellow (on a black car it was hard to tell). After it hit the 3 year mark it began to crack.... badly.
I removed it (took everything less than a jack-hammer to do so), but when peeling it off of the hood, it left a very definitive line across the hood and about 500 tiny rock chip looking things from where it pulled the paint.
Now I need to have my entire front end repainted because of this crap.

I can certainly understand your frustration. Unfortunately, there are a few film manufacturers that are more interested in having a low price than having high quality and the customer ends up getting hurt in the end. Technology plays a huge part in designing a film that not only protects from rock impacts, but causes no harm to the paint it protects.

Rob,

One more tip. When you talk to the folks at SmartShield, tell them that their XPEL rep, Jeff, wants them to use Ultimate film on the installation and that they'll be covered on the upgrade.

It sounds like you have a light colored paint job, so you'll really want to go with the Ultimate film. Not to mention it has a 10 year warranty.

That is 3M for you. That film is notorious for cracking... although it usually seems to happen around the 5-6 year point. One of the many reasons why I don't install it.

Default Xpel Clear Bra issues...will they stand behind it?

So i have an Xpel bra on my 2012 GS Callaway Corvette.

Its been on 2.5 year and has been perfect . This week i have noticed 5 faint black spots UNDER the bra. I'm told by the installer down her in South Fl this its mold or mildew under the bra. Car has always kept inside
How weird after 2.5 years.

This bra has protected the paint as advertised from damage.
so let see how xpel handles this . Will keep you posted
