The OEM pipes are stainless steel; they will polish up very shiny. I think that's what most of us are referring to.

most "metal" polishes are designed for all metal types. There are also some specific polishes like "chrome" polish which should be used on chrome. Mothers makes "billet" and "aluminum" polishes which are used on uncoated wheels of the same type also.

I have had great success with a Wolfgang metal polish on a cotton buffing cone and my drill.
I've also used the compound but after getting my aluminum trailer and Vette tips looking good, the polish is all you need.
Takes me five minutes now.

Those look "pristine" - nice job. I've also used Wieman when the Ceram-Bryte distributor was on strike. The CB seems stronger but both work.

Melting Slicks
Just don't let them get too bad. A quick wipe between treatments make things much easier.

There are many solutions to this problem that work well. However, I find Never Dull works best overall for me. It quickly cleans both chrome and polished stainless steel and brings either to a bright shine. It is effective, inexpensive, and readily available.

I still find that 0000 (quad 0) steel or brass wool work well and amplifies the results of most products. Handle with care and test in small area first.

Looks good but price makes this plan B or C. Will keep it mind - thanks.
Does this cut right through the exhaust build-up? Either something to protect it like the G-technic recommended above or something that requires little time/effort to remove the build up is what I am hoping to find.
SS on the tips - thanks for correction.
SS tips not chrome - my mistake.
