Default How to clean window trim/weatherstripping?

I would first wipe the area with a damp towel with some APC on it. You could try a little piece of clay as needed, but not likely needed on the weatherstripping. I would then coat the stripping with Einszett Rubber Care Stick.

I have not used the Mothers product. I used their previous product Back to Black and found it ran in heavy rain. The rubber stick from 1Z Einszett is super easy to apply due to the design. Its rather durable and appears weather resistant. The only issue is that if you overapply (it will look like a whitish foam) you should buff the area to remove excess.

i will clay the painted metal or it might be vinyl over metal, is that fine to clay?
the mothers kit differs from the standalone back to black apparently. the kit is supposed to clean and restore whereas the standalone is a dressing, at least i think that is how it is.

Mothers makes fine products, sounds like its worth an attempt.

^^^ Good Advice
(for another different approach) I might suggest...
IPA, mineral spirits or APC with a microfiber towel wipedown then
a Nanoskin Autoscrub Speedy Prep Sponge (FINE) with a clay lube.
Again, as KW stated above...do a small inconspicuous test spot first.
