Default Anyone Drop Zaino for a Coating?

I was a devout Zaino user for years. Then I ventured off into the likes of carnuba/synthetic waxes such as Wolfgang Fusion and Dodo Juice Supernatural. Although these hybrid waxes gave IMHO a better finish than Zaino, they did not last as long.

Then I discovered coatings. Now I am blown away. I recently coated the Z06 with 22PLE VX1 Pro and love it.

I now have some Optimum Gloss Coat on the way from Autogeek. Can't wait to try that coating out since it has been newly released to the market. I have high expectations.

I now have a sickness, I am even contemplating on toping my glass coating on the Z06 with Wolfgang Fusion just to see what it looks like. I realize that I will loose the anti-static and water shedding properties of the coating. Am I nuts?

Some shots of my newly coated car. And yes, I did do a full paint correction using my Flex 3401, Rupes 75E and various Meguiars and Menzerna compounds. I learned a ton of information hanging out in the Autogeek detailing section. The only negative is the effect on my wallet. At least detailing does not erode ones savings as quickly as modding.

Interesting….

How long is this new stuff reported to last in typical summer months with car washes and such…..?

And what is the price tag on this….?

A 30ml bottle of 22PLE VX1 Pro will run you $85.50. This is enough to do a full size SUV. A 20ml bottle is $60.00 (enough for a corvette).

Optimum gloss coat is $59.99 for 10ml. I would imagine that is sized for your average type car. I have not used this coating yet, but will soon try it.

These coatings will last 18 to 24 months. They repel dust and dirt and are hydrophobic.

Some waxes can actually degrade "coatings". Use caution "topping" with a wax.
If it were me I'd stick with the family of products designed to work together.

If you using like sealants and waxes then I personally would not apply a coating.
If you like your 1-on-1 time doing Mr. Miyagi WOWO then a coating is not for you.
I polished and coated my "pride and joy" with CQuartz Finest a few months back.
Now it's just a wash and Reload spray with a quality microfiber towel and that's it.
...I miss our 1-on-1 time together.

BTW - Nice rack.

FYI - I use and love the results of Z-2, ZFX, Z-6, Z-7, Z-8, Z-9, Z-10 etc.

Doing a "coating" is not for everyone. You have to polish a coating to remove it.
It's a big decision. Once you do a coating it's a Ron Popeil "Set it and forget it".

Used Zaino for years. Blackfire came along and, in my opinion, is easier to use, easier to see on the paint while it is applied and the shine is second to none. Zaino needs to come out with some new (updated?) products to keep up with everyone else.

The difference with a "coating" versus a sealant, comes down to durability. You will only need to apply 1x versus an average of 4-6 times for a sealant under the protection period. The application is also much faster and easier, with no real buffing needed unless you over apply the coating.

The gloss and look factor is there, and often longer also. The real challenge is for those that want to wax or seal more often. A coating is often best applied, and left alone with only basic washing. (some offer a spray booster that can be applied as desired). They really are designed for long term protection. Apply it and forget it.

I suspect as coatings progress with even longer durability, better gloss and reflection that we will see less and less use of traditional waxes and sealants. The time saved and long term design is very appealing to the general population. Have you used Zaino's Clear-Seal ?? This is basically how a coating works. Its a spray on , spread it, and forget it type design only much longer protection. I think the lack of heavy buffing also has a lot of individuals seeing happy. The real challenge of course is to get the paint polished and cleaned properly before its application to provide the best look long term. Unfortunately short changing this area will harm the outcome of any pure wax, pure sealant, or coating. A proper finish is still found in the prep, the protection has just changed.

Good to see so many new products being used and preferred over the holy Z product.
Always thought the Z stuff was highly over rated for years.

last year I switched out my Zaino for Pinnacle Black Label (I got it on sale) and am very happy I did so. Very easy to apply, no smudges or streaks like I have experienced with Zaino Clear Seal. The protection is awesome. My back is getting sore as I get older so I don't clean the vette as often as I used to. No mater how dirty it gets, bugs come right off, no water spots, no swirls, just a perfect finish.
