Headlight lens protection?
I have a 2008 coupe and I've heard that applying cleaners and waxes will degrade and discolor the headlight lenses. Is this true? What's safe to use?
Thanks

Polishing out a yellow lens will degrade the coating yes….
But, they will look better for a while. What is the alternative….?
Just waxing them won't hurt. I use Zaino clear seal on all the glass and there are other sealants that will help protect the lenses from UV rays...

I use RejeX on mine. My '09 Jetta lenses still look brand new.

I've never had an issue. You can polish them, seal them, wax, whatever.
I just sanded a friends headlamps. He had paint spray on his car. Lot of wet sanding including headlamps.
Polish them right out.
On my track cars I use:

I did notice the fog lamp fitment was poor on the C6Z however.

I noticed what looked like old dried on bug guts on my wife's Honda CR-V lens the other day. I tried everything I had (polishing compound, wax, Comet cleanser, and even RejeX) nothing would take it off.
Saw the WD-40 on the shelf and said "what the heck". The WD-40 worked....took off whatever was on the lens.
That stuff is a miracle in a spray can.

once the UV coating is gone the lenses will indeed discolor. Without a proper coating they will continue to fade and yellow again. I would not use any waxes, or sealants. I would suggest this:
