You'll find many support every buffer from the Porter Cable to the Flex to the Rupes. Wait until SEMA is done, more are coming !! It comes down to expectations, uses, and budget. I think the Griots Random Orbital, Hydro tech pads, and Wolfgang polishes offer a great and affordable package for most weekend detailers as an example.

I have had the PC for years. Great all a round buffer. I just bought the Flex today from Autogeek. Trying to cut the buffing time down. I had a Flex a few years ago and didn't use it much and sold it. At the time my detailing business was high cars that didn't get driven much or new cars that didn't need much work. Now I just work on 5-6 daily drivers and could use the extra punch that the flex delivers.

There is always a sale somewhere. I use forum vendors whenever possible. They also have discount codes that can be used anytime. Black Friday/Cyber Monday are always good. I have used both Autogeek and Adam's in the past.

I graduated from a Porter Cable to a Flex when they came out. Flex is smoother and forced rotation prevents stalling. Sure it's more money and I'm only a weekend waxer but I'm worth it!!!
I did wet sand and buff my C7 and no way would my PC tackle that job.

Autogeek is not only the longest forum supporter, it offers a full time price guarantee. It also stocks all the units, so you can choose the buffer and accessories from one place. We post sales ads here when possible and they stream across the front page of our site. We also offer a forum to support your use and best practices.

I read many threads on different forums pretty much saying the same thing. People start with the PC and at some point upgrade to the Flex because they reach the limit of what the PC can do. So I just skipped a step and went straight to the flex. Awesome machine. Did wonders on my 3 cars.

I prefer the Griots over the PC.
It works better.
More HP, or torque or more orbit, it just seems better.
It is louder and more aggressive in the hand but a nice random orbital for sure.
I got it with the long cord, I would skip that next time. I have to use an extention cord anyways.

Sounds right, if money was no object.
