Default Corvette washing basics

Hi Guys - I am looking for a little help here. I recently purchased a 2010 Black Convertible. It is my first Vette in 20 years, which I can finally afford again since the kids are grown up now.

I want to get started on the right track with washing it properly.

I washed it once already, water spots were bad and I tried to clean them up with some Lucas Slick Mist - not sure if that is right or wrong.

Could you guys help me out with which products to use for washing, drying, etc? Just the basics to help me get started. Any tips on what to do with the top would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks in advance.

Black?! oooh, haha- yeah...don't screw that up by bringing it to the high volume car wash on the corner.

look up "two bucket wash" on you tube and maybe consider learning how to use a dual action (DA) orbital polisher that uses foam polishing pads to buff out the inevitable swirl marks that come with dark colors.

Forget simple green. It can pit/stain aluminum.

BLACK!!!!! What touchsport said.

I have had two black SUVs and love the color, but if you are like a lot of vette owners you can't stand a dirty car, swirlmarks, etc. and will spend a lot of time on it. Mine is red and I still spend a lot of time cleaning it.

That being said, welcome and enjoy your beautiful car. Nothing looks better than a freshly waxed black car.

I have found that with coatings (versus wax or sealant) a black vehicle can stay detailed a bit longer and cleanup easier. Perhaps its time to consider moving to a product like Opti-gloss or Gtechnic.

When I first got my car I learned a lot from this guy on youtube. Here is a link to one of his videos and you can find others from there.
