Just got new tires and seeking suggestions on how best to remove the old weight glue residue from the wheel barrels. Any suggestions?

I have used a solvent adhesive remover, and some elbow grease. I have also seen others using a polish (paint or metal depending on wheel type). It is easier to work on the wheels off the car.

If you want to do the best you can without increasing the risk of lifting the paint on the barrels, I would use a blow dryer, your fingers and quite a bit of patience. I've even seen some folks try WD40 and have the paint rub away.

I have used just about everything mentioned ever.

Still have very thin residue though. It is smooth but still present. I gave up for fear of doing damage.

Used heat with every solvent I could lay my hands in.

I've never had a problem using WD-40.

I've also used WD40 with good success.

Thanks for the input. The wheels come off tomorrow and I will let folks know how things worked out!

Easier than I anticipated. 2 hours start to finish. Used WD30 and micro fiber towel to remove adhesive residue and used the opportunity to clean and seal all 4 barrels and wipe down wheel wells.

Thanks for all the input!!
