Have a careful look at the consumer reviews of that Brinkmann. Lots of people saying its a total piece of garbage. I picked up the Stanley equivalent on sale at a local store for about $30 IIRC. I also have a free standing two headed work light that I use. It throws a heck of a lot of light, but does generate a ton of heat, too.

I like many purchased one of these Brinkmann before the company wisely discontinued them. Agree with the many reviews = garbage!!
Yes, it had a very bright light indeed and certainly found the swirls. Battery life was horrible as was the quality of the light. Mine didn't last very long...... good thing I only detail a couple of times each year.... was a total waste of money. I am in the market again for a replacement and it will not be a Brinkmann brand thats for sure....

I've had my Brinkmann Xenon light for several years, but unfortunately the rechargeable battery is shot. My car is Arctic White and it's difficult to see any swirl marks if I work on it in my garage during the day. For some reason, the swirl marks show up much better in my garage at night. I never found the light to be that useful.

I've got one with bad batteries too. Actually, I liked it pretty well when it was holding a charge. Maybe it depends on the color of the car? (mine's black)
But now it's dead. So the question is, what would be a good hand held light to use to find swirls? Already have the 1500w halogen lamps on stands. Great heat lamps btw
Any suggestions?

That looks suspiciously like the little 3 x AAA powered LED flashlights you can get everywhere for $3 - $5. I've got a couple of them, one with 6 LEDs and one with 9. They will show swirls, they just don't put out as much light as the Brinkman light. Maybe a nice big bright LED flashlight is the answer.

I bought a brinkman. Does what it's suppose to.. You can see them better in sunlight . But you have to stand at the right angle. Let me tell you. If you have your paint clean enough where no swirls are seen unless under some high intensity light. You've cleaned it well enough and don't need to remove any more clear coat.
