Zaino vs Formula 113--- UPDATE!
As some might recall, approximately 6 months ago, I made a post that compared Formula 113 to Zaino Bros. Show Car Polishes. They were compared on a tan 1999 F-150 with 50,000 miles. The paint finish was in excellent condition with the exception of three scratches on the back right fender (which neither product fixed, or was designed to fix, as the scratches are somewhat deep). The results were as follows:
Procedure
Formula 113
Wash truck with Dawn Soap
Clay truck with Formula 113 Claybar
Wash truck with Dawn Soap
Wax truck with Formula 113 Show Car Wax
Wipe truck down with BeadX Show Car Detailing Spray
Zaino
Wash truck with Dawn Soap
Clay truck with Zaino Claybar
Wash truck with Z-7 Show Car Wash
Polish truck with Z-2 Show Car Polish enabled with ZFX (skipped Z-5 step so I could have an even comparison of one product).
Wipe down truck with Z-6 Detailing Spray
Polish truck with Z-2 Show Car Polish enabled with ZFX
Wipe down truck with Z-6 Detailing spray (Only did 2 coats of Z-2 due to time).
Both processes were somewhat time consuming, as every polish/wax should be during the first application (2 washings, and clay). The first coat of Z-2 was easier to apply than the coat of Formula 113 wax, however, in the long run, the Formula 113 process was done quicker due to the one step. If one was to also due Z-5 before Z-2, the process would even be more time consuming for the Zaino user.
Appearance
At first glance, it was difficult to distinguish the two. However, after looking for a while, you could see that the Formula 113 shined slightly better than the Zaino. However, the reflectivity of Zaino's finish was clearer, and deeper. This was odd because waxes generally tend to be deeper than most synthetic polishes. This was because Formula 113 uses little Caranuba wax in its product, and uses many oils (hence the shine). The Zaino was much smoother and slicker than Formula 113, and also repelled more dust after being left outside. The long term benefits of Formula 113 were almost gone immediately after the 2nd washing. It seemed as if it was a clean car, but the shine and depth was 80% gone. Zaino looked exactly the same as before, and that was 4 months ago.
Bottom Line
If you want to wax your car every 2 weeks, and have an INCREDIBLE shine, get formula 113.
If you want the slickest, smoothest, and longest lasting protection of any paint protectant out there, get Zaino. Zaino manages to maintain a show car-just polished look wash after wash after wash, and protects your paint at the same time.
If you are not using Zaino, you should. Try it, you will be hooked. Nothing can compare.
Thanks,
Andy

I've used Formula 113 and agree with your thorough assessment. I'm back to Zaino exclusively. Thanks for the follow-up story.

Andy 1983, Thanks for posting this. I appreciate your posts on cleaning and polishing/waxing products. You always seem to conduct sound tests without bias and present the results in a straightforward way. Len
