I like a little WD40 on a soft cloth.

If you use Zaino then just try Z-6. If that does not work try one of the bug removing sprays that say it is safe for clearcoat paint. I spray lots of the stuff on and work it around with my fingers for some time and then wipe it off with a clean rag. The problem with WD-40 is that it smells bad and leaves an oily residue which requires washing off. I doubt WD-40 removes much if any Zaino since I hear only alcohol removes Zaino.

If you don't use Zaino then Meguire's Quick Detailer or the like should work about like the Z-6. WD-40 probably removes any wax that was on the car so re-waxing would be required.

I am very gentle when working on any painted areas other than around the wheel wells and lowest few inches on the sides where rock chips accumulate. Fingernails are not a recommended tool to help remove tar from painted surfaces that can be easily viewed. :nono:

I'll give another vote to Stoner's Tarminator.

Ain't notin' like it!! WD-40 is the best for this and also use under wheel wells to get rid of tar build up..

Clay bar also works well for small spots if used often :D
