Default Best wax or polish for black vetts

C6 black I had some swirl marks and use a orbital polisher and I remove most of them. Still some deep ones . What wax or Polish .
Turtle wax color magic or black jet .One is a wax the other is a polish .I will never get another black car . Shows everything.

Black cars do indeed need some additional care but look so darn good looking when kept up right. The first thing is to understand the many different products and that unfortunately not all products are exactly as described, some use the description to try and stand out amongst very similar products.

Wax -- You have products that protect the paint and the work you have done to clean and polish paint. Waxes can be traditional (often carnauba based) or synthetic. Some waxes are AIO (All in One) and have cleaners and polishes all in one bottle.

Polishes -- A true polish is abrasive and helps to abrade the surface and remove marring, swirls, and imperfections. Some product use this term lightly when they really are nothing more than a synthetic wax.

In order to keep a black car up ... you are best to study each area of car care.

Wash --------) Clay -----------) Clean and Polish ----------) Protect

There is no best products but often very good products in each area above. The challenge is often that what you like I might not like and vice versa. No one wax is going to be the best, however many products exist that were designed for black paints. Pinnacle Souveran, Blackfire BlackWax, Dodo Juice are a couple nice ones. I would offer that if you clean and polish paint properly which brings out gloss and reflection, you could use a relatively cheap wax and often stellar results. (prep is key)

Yes Autogeek's Killer; I agree.

It is the polish or surface prep below the wax that makes black paint pop.

FWIW...IMO Regular wax over (instead of) a Clearner wax seems to "pop" better.

Have fun...some say black paint is a lifestyle!

It's the polish job that adds the pop, product selection after that *might* add to that.

Process, then product...........

All newer cars are clear-coated so color doesn't really matter.

Some colors just show scratches more than other colors.

Like they said PREP is Everything.

Well I waxed the car first with turtle wax black magic Polish and then turtle wax jet black wax . Not sure how long it will last but it does hide the scratches swirl marks .
Car looks good .

i wash with the two bucket method using Optimum no rinse, then i use Klasse all in one, then finish using Pinnnacle Carnuba and Sovereign wax mix. Great results. Triple black C6 coupe

Black cars are absolutely beautiful when they are clean. Too bad that the clean only lasts for five minutes.

Megs 105, 205, Menzerna, and Zaino makes mine shine.

Zaino Clear Sealant and Z8 Grand Finale. Viper is Sapphire Blue which is very close to black. 65 Vette is Glen Green, also close to black.

I have been asked by some the benefits of a color charged wax like Blackfire's BlackIce. Nick has been nice enough to put the Blackfire Line on sale this weekend and offering 5.00 shipping in Continental US. This might be the time to try this product, or perhaps another Blackfire hit, Midnight Sun Paste Wax.

All true but in my experience the turtle wax jet black and black Magic hides the scratches swirl marks .
If your car is clean I think they all work.
It hides the deep scratches my porta cable will not get out .

But i'm always open to do the options

The challenge to waxes with fillers that hide swirls and marring, its gone at the first wash. So .. are the swirls and scratches felt by your fingernail ?? If not, your Porter Cable should be able to remove or reduce them. It really comes down to the correct polishes, speed, pressure, and pads. I have found most black GM vehicles respond extremely well to two step polishes like those from Megs, Menzerna, and Wolfgang. The PC works best with a 5 inch backing plate and 5.5 inch pads. (I like Hydro-techs)

Menzerna works perfectly on Black Corvettes using 5.5" Lake Country pads.
