Couple of questions regarding cleaning/detailing a black C5
I bought this black C5 not too long ago, and it's due for a good wash/wax but I find all these products available quite confusing.
So I was planing on doing the following:
-Rinse car off with garden hose
-Wash with a car wash shampoo
-If the paint isn't smooth enough, use a clay bar
-Use Chemical guys blacklight (applied by hand). 2 coats
-Use CG V7 to top it off
Now, before applying the blacklight/V7 combo, should I use some sort of cleaner to make sure that the old wax is all gone? Also, any steps that I might be missing (I am not planning on buying a machine polisher at this stage)?
Between washes, can use a quick detailer followed by V7 (or any other quick wax product)?
I am actually not sure if the blacklight/V7 combo is the best option , and I haven't bought them yet, but it looks like people are mostly happy with it.

You'll be fine with your plan.
Black paint = labor of love.
As for wax removal Dawn dish washing soap seems to be a consumer product that works as a wax remover. Else yes, you can buy professional wax removal products from an auto body shop materials supplier or perhaps even AutoGeek. Since you a new owner it is desirable to start from scratch (haha) so I would go through the step to ensure all old wax is removed.
I would add...use the two bucket method while washing. Dry the car using a leaf blower. Buy the best mirco fiber towels you can afford/ find. Machine polish after the clay bar and before waxing.
Have fun.

If you don't plan on machine polishing (abrasive) then I would highly suggest using a paint cleansing lotion like Pinnacle. It will clean, chemically, and prepare for the new product. Otherwise your plan sounds great, just consider 2-bucket for washing and MF towels for drying.

Sounds like you are on the right track, you could use a strip wash before claying.
Between washes you could use Detail Spray or Waterless Wash.
There are a lot of great products out now to help maintain your wax or sealants.
We have our new Wash & Wax and H20 Guard & Gloss.
